Sony press conference brings a humble apology, a few new games and palatable PS Vita pricing

I’ll go ahead and get this out of the way: Sony’s PlayStation Vita (formerly known as the NGP) is very attractively priced. I was thinking $399 and up for the price simply due to the specs of the little guy — OLED screen, two touch pads, etc. — and Sony’s somehow managed to make the thing start at $249 for the Wi-Fi only version, with the AT&T 3G version only bringing that up to $299. I think that’s an official “Bring it” hurled in Nintendo’s direction. We’ll see if they say anything in the morning. Right out of the gate, however, Jack Tretton addressed the elephant in the room — that month-long PSN nightmare, only recently remedied. He apologized to third-parties, since they lost money through a lack of PlayStation Store sales, he apologized to vendors (since I’ll bet that more of a few of them had to explain what

Everything’s better in slow-motion, especially this ‘Assassin’s Creed: Revelations’ trailer

Ubisoft officially revealed some Assassin’s Creed: Revelations gameplay this afternoon, but beforehand, they showed off a reveal trailer that was, to be honest, beautiful. (And since you’ll probably be wondering after watching, here’s the song.) Hopefully someone we have on the ground will get to test this title out and report back.

‘Halo 4′ announced as the beginning of a new trilogy, ‘Combat Evolved’ remake coming

The very end of Microsoft’s press briefing this morning was substantially more exciting for Halo fans with Don Mattrick, president of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business, saying that this is the “dawn of a new trilogy for Xbox 360.” That line was a little misleading, since it turns out that we’re getting Halo 4. I guess it’s technically the start of another trilogy, but I was definitely expecting something resembling a new IP. Halo 4 releases Holiday 2012. Watch the reveal trailer below. Tags: GameTrailers.com, E3 2011: Debut Trailer (Stream) HD, PC Games, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 And that’s not all for the Halo universe — a remake of the very first game is on the way. You can reminisce in HD on November 15. Tags: GameTrailers.com, E3 2011: Debut Featurette (Stream) HD, PC Games, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Harmonix officially announces ‘Dance Central 2′ onstage at E3

Harmonix debuted Dance Central 2 at Microsoft’s E3 Media Briefing this morning. Makes sense, since it’s a Kinect-only title, and their press conference was very Kinect-heavy. (It kind of had to be, if you want the few million people that purchased one to be happy.) Dance Central 2 adds your traditional single-player mode, but this time you get to play with a friend via simultaneous multiplayer. No more having everyone else look on. Now one more person can get in on the fun either by just performing together, or in a Dance Battle. Players can also seamlessly drop in and out. The game adds new characters, venues and game modes. You’ll also meet new dance crews to battle. Just like what happens in real life! You’ll be able to import songs from the original game (at the press conference, they said all of them, but there may be holdouts), and

There’s a lot of action. There’s a zombie, and he’s having a nice, horrific snack (that’s a given). The latest chapter of the survival horror series appears to stick to the roots we love, and hey, it’ll probably end up making you feel nostalgic along the way.
