GamingAngels Weekly Roundup Episode 10 — E3 Edition

This week, it’s all about wrapping up our E3 coverage. One-third of us was there…the other two just had to watch television. More notes below the player. And we do use a tiny bit of…”language.” So expect that. Subscribe to us on iTunes! A large portion of the conversation is dedicated to E3′s larger press conferences, and we’re not all enthused. While there are highlights, we have more rage within us than anything. When did we get so cynical? No idea. Apparently Nintendo didn’t understand why on Earth there would be any negative response. We explain it in simpler terms. Square Enix was also pretty disappointed by a complete lack of Japanese presence at the show. We explain that, too. And then there’s the hackers. We’re just angry at them by now. So much anger. And it goes on for an hour. Enjoy! As always, we encourage you to check

Patrick Stewart lends his talent to ‘The War of the Worlds’

Patrick Stewart, who is best known as Jean-Luc Picard and Professor X, is serving as the narrator for Other Ocean Interactive’s downloadable title The War of the Worlds, a side-scrolling platformer available later this year on Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Store. The title follows one man during a 1950s alien invasion in London and is intended to mirror the timeline of the 1953 film of the same name. Stewart is clearly a longtime fan of the film. “As a young boy, I remember watching the The War of the Worlds so many times I was quoting the lines,” said Stewart. “The alien invasion both terrified and fascinated me and the movie has stuck with me since then. Now, being part of this project will provide a new way for gamers around the world to experience a fresh new take on a classic.” Follow

‘Forza Motorsport 4′ takes a shot at replicating the Top Gear track

Well, once upon a time, I thought that Gran Turismo 5‘s use of the infamous Top Gear test track would be the best I’d ever see. I may change my mind based on pictures alone. Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 4 is also including the track, and if these screenshots are any indication…it looks pretty nice. Definitely giving Polyphony a run for their money, to be sure. Take a look at the screenshots below and see how you feel. I wish we could see a bit more of the track for comparison’s sake, but that might have to wait for the game’s release. Follow

E3 First Look – Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

One of the most asked about video games at E3 was Skyrim.  I recently posted “what would you guys want to know about E3,” to my Twitter account as well as our Facebook community. It was interesting to see that a lot of the questions where Skyrim related.  Surprised? Not at all, since the game promises to show us a world we haven’t seen before. The Graphics don’t make the game, but in this case, it is required to mention the incredible amount of detail found in the vast lands that Skyrim has to offer. Even the leaves are detailed, on the little plant that you happen to pass by on the road; it’s these small details within the game that are like little unexpected treasures.  I am certain that many of us will stop and smell the flowers many at time during our play through of this game.
