‘Hot Shots Golf 5′ getting new content later this year

Anoop over at AndriaSang posted translated information from Japanese games magazine Famitsu yesterday. Another game is getting PlayStation Move support, and it’s one that actually makes sense for a change! Popular golf game Hot Shots Golf 5, despite being released in the U.S. over three years ago, is getting ready to make your golf swing translate into something cuter and living room-friendly. The update, which will be free, arrives (in Japan at least) on July 14. This addition also includes 3D support, but we’ll pretend that’s not happening. Sony will also release a PlayStation Move and Eye bundle featuring the game in Japan in September. Dates and/or bundle existence has not been confirmed in any other regions. If you’re really wanting to get into the game, you can try out the item pictured. I have no idea why this exists, but at least it’s inexpensive?

    Pottermore facts are revealed

JK Rowling is a business genius. Earlier today she announced Pottermore a place that many people were hoping to be an online game area. But Pottermore will be a site that contains new JK Rowling content free for users. Ebooks will be available, but will be at a premium cost. The information came pre-embargo from BBC’s Rory Cellan-Jones on Twitter. In the press release, there are details that Pottermore will be made with a partnership with Sony. Pottermore won’t just be a store, visitors will be able to get sorted into a house, cast spells and compete for the House Cup. There will also be a wand chooser that has over 33,000 combinations to create the right wand for that user. Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sony Corporation, commented: “Sony’s association with J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore brings together one of the world’s most innovative brands with

‘Beyond Good & Evil HD’ finally snaps on to PlayStation Network

If you have yet to pick up Beyond Good & Evil, a game that ends up on a lot of “Best of” lists, you get a chance to experience an adventure in Hillys for the first time. This edition of the game was previously released on Xbox LIVE, but PlayStation 3 owners can pick it up in the PlayStation Store on June 28 for $9.99. Anyone who purchases the game within the first two weeks of its release also receives two avatars for use on your account. (I’m gonna guess that they’re Jade and Pey’j.) If you’ve already played this game…this version is beautiful. It’s a must-have in your collection. If you’re still iffy, see if this trailer, full of added-on music that I definitely don’t remember from the soundtrack (which is awesome and you can download for free), changes your mind. Holy run-on sentence, Batman.

E3 First Look: War of the Worlds

Paramount brought two big surprises to these years E3.  The one that caught me completely off-guard was “War of the Worlds.” The demo was played using an Xbox 360 and is set to be released by this year’s end on Xbox live Arcade and Playstation Network.  I must say that out of all the appointments and demos we went through the week, you can tell the developers that love what they were doing and have a genuine passion for the game.  This was one of them.  First Mike Mika, head of development at Other Ocean, not only was exited to show us the demo, but he was truly knowledgeable about the material.  He could not restrain the inner fanboy very well, as it tried to escape the chains of professionalism in front of the media.  I was right there with him, struggling with my inner fangirl as he explained that

    E3 Hands On: Tera

Those that have been following the game for a while might know that, as far as internet buzz is concerned, Tera might have started off on the wrong foot. Screenshots of skimpy armor and videos of sexy casting animations made it the go-to game for “how not to portray female characters.” Personally, I never much bought into the idea that it deserved to be a scapegoat for a larger problem. Plus, if you dig a little deeper, Tera looks to be a really good game underneath some of the skimpy armor. I got a chance to take a closer look at Tera this year at E3 and even got to play through an epic boss fight with some of the developers. For those unfamiliar, Tera is MMORPG from En Masse and Bluehole Studio that frequently boasts “True. Action. Combat.” While there is a growing trend of MMOs to move toward

‘Ms. Splosion Man’ making her way to Xbox LIVE Arcade next month

Ms. Splosion Man, one of the games I tried out at PAX East, finally has a date for getting the exothermic (read: explosive) little lady out into the world: July 13. This is an anticipated sequel to the original 2009 title Splosion Man, only available on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Twisted Pixel has improved the sequel, added multiple modes (including the raunchy-sounding “2 Girls, 1 Controller”) and seem pretty optimistic overall. The game features 50 single-player levels, 50 multiplayer levels and other “surprises.” “We are incredibly proud of Ms. Splosion Man and feel like it is our best game to date. We are very excited to launch it this summer on XBLA,” said Twisted Pixel CEO, Mike Wilford. /wp-content/uploads/2011/06/MsSplosionManRelease.jpg
