Wednesday & Thursday SDCC schedule is up!

It’s the most wonderful time..of the year. That’s what I sing every year (for the past 13 years!) when San Diego Comic Con comes around. It’s not only my favorite convention, but the city is amazing too. I have been complaining on Twitter that the schedule has not come out yet. Well the SDCC gods must have heard me because the schedule for Preview Night and Thursday is now out. It has many surprises already and I’m so pumped I can hardly sit still through work. Leading up to SDCC, I will be writing preview articles as well as what tips I’ve learned after 13 years at SDCC. Yes, this will be my 14th year. I used to go as a regular attendee before GamingAngels existed. It was such a different convention back then and I look forward to seeing how SDCC changes as some studios start pulling out of

Bungie Vs. the World, or: How I learned to love the Steak!

Vegetarians beware! Bungie is playing Halo Reach today and if you beat them, you get steak.  Yes… beef, from a cow.  “You steak us. We steak you.” is the motto of today’s 7/7 Bungie day.  As many of you know, Bungie celebrates the 7th day of July in order to prolong their long standing infatuation with the number seven.  So is not unusual to log on and find them playing today, usually with some swag to give out. If you want a steak, all you have to do is be in the United States and play the Steaktacular playlist.  If you are not in the U.S.A, they will send you a gift card.  The gaming marathon started at 12:00am (PT) and will go on until 11:59pm(PT). If you see these Gamertags: Humproast, Heavenly Beef, Tender Loins or Porterhaus all you have to do is beat them!  If you are

Pyramind Studios producing the ‘Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary’ soundtrack

343 Industries and Microsoft Studios have chosen to partner with Pyramind Studios, located in northern California, for the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary soundtrack. The game releases November 15, 2011. Pyramind is responsible for the hefty task of reproducing the original score. They chose several notable groups to help them, including the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and Chanticleer, a men’s vocal ensemble. “It was a huge undertaking to transcribe, orchestrate, and produce every note from the original game soundtrack files,” said Paul Lipson, Pyramind Studios COO/Audio Director. “Our team approached every aspect of the music with an immense amount of skill and care, keeping the core Halo sound while updating the production to today’s highest standards.” Microsoft Studios Audio Director Kristofor Mellroth said, “This wasn’t just a simple remaster, it was a completely new orchestration and recording using renowned talent and top live players. We are striving to create the ultimate love

Sony confirms the existence of a PSN Pass, set to debut with ‘Resistance 3′

Sony addressed the rumors that they’ll be launching something called a PSN Pass soon…and hey, the rumors are true. But what exactly is this PSN Pass? According to a statement from Sony, it’s a “network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities.” Basically, it’s going to be a lot like other companies’ Online Passes — buy the game used and you’ve got to pay an extra $10 for online play. Thankfully, it’s game-specific, so it doesn’t apply to the entire network. However, the service is coming to Sony-published titles, and Resistance 3 is the first on the list. The statement further commented that this system “allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio.” Also, lest you forget, Sony’s done this before. Now the program just has a name. Obviously, this is likely just coming around to combat used game sales.
