Sony extends identity theft protection registration

    We hope this isn't make-believe

Miss out on that email prompting you to register for AllClear ID Plus? That’s okay. While the original identity theft protection signup period ended June 28, you now get another chance, as the program’s been extended to July 31, 2011.

The program still includes cyber monitoring and surveillance that will alert you when your personal information is found online, access to investigators and identity restoration specialists in the event that your information is in fact compromised and the same $1 million in identity theft insurance.

So, come on. Your identity’s probably floating around now. And you could theoretically have it all covered in the event of theft, up to $1 million. I can’t remember the last time any company offered me protection with the word “million” even mentioned.

To sign up, visit http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection/ and enter your email address.

Solutions for Canada and Latin America have not yet been announced.
