‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ trailer is de-classified

This “Classified Information” trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution goes over…well, almost everything you’d want to know before you play. Play styles, information on the biological engineering going on in our esteemed main character and also a short look into the other characters’ dead-looking eyes. I figured the future would be depressing, but now I’m just worried. Follow

Getting ready for Blog Her 2011

That’s right! I have the honor of speaking at BlogHer. I will be doing the 12:30-2:30 talks in the Geek Bar about Gaming. It’s a loosely formatted discussion where you can come by and ask any questions you may have. I’m hoping to discuss games, what kids should be playing, how they can use the ESRB applications, and talk to women about the changing face of gaming. I will also have buttons (since they came late for SDCC) lol. What is BlogHer? It’s the largest female blogging community. I will have a better idea when I’m at the convention, but it seems like THOUSANDS of women come out to not only learn, but network at this event. It takes up most of the San Diego Convention Center (so weird going to Ballroom 20 for something that isn’t geeky in nature!). I can talk about Gaming and GamingAngels/She’s Geeky until I

Take a look at the Gamescom trailer for ‘Sine Mora’

Grasshopper Manufacture’s been pretty busy lately, and even though this game doesn’t involve any zombie-killin’ cheerleaders, Sine Mora does appear to be a pretty cinematic shmup. It also looks to be almost the exact opposite of anything we’ve ever seen from Suda51. Maybe that’s what they’re going for. Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture are working together on the PSN/XBLA title, scheduled to release this winter. Follow

    Cowboys and Aliens

When I first heard that there was going to be a movie called ‘Cowboys and Aliens’, I was hooked. How could a movie with a name like that fail to be awesome? I was not deterred by the memory of ‘Snakes on a Plane’, because while the comedic value of the title was obvious, the concept hardly seemed enough to hang a whole movie on; therefore, it wasn’t a surprise when the movie failed to live up to all the hype (not that I saw it–I hate snakes–but that is what I heard). But ‘Cowboys and Aliens’? It would have cowboys, *and* aliens! What’s not to like? Then, I found out the three leads would be Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde, and Daniel Craig would take off his shirt AND wear chaps, and I was all there. And THEN, I heard the Jon Favreau interview on NPR, where he

NPR wants to know your favorite SF/F works

Have you seen this? NPR asked their audience last month to nominate titles for a list they are compiling of the top 100 SF and Fantasy books ever written. They got a lot of responses–nearly 5000 on the website, and thousands more on their facebook page. A panel of three SF writers and critics (John Clute, Farah Mendlesohn, Gary K. Wolfe) narrowed down the list to 237 books with 167 distinct authors and now it is time to vote!  There are a lot of books on this list, so I copied the list over to a spreadsheet for some statistical anaylsis before I get to the hard business of choosing my ten favorites. (Did you think I was kidding in my profile when I said I am a fan of Excel? No, I really am geeky enough to love spreadsheets!) Here are some of the things I found: There are

‘Borderlands 2′ is on the way

Soon enough, it’ll be time to go back to Pandora. Gearbox Software is working on a sequel to super-hit Borderlands. Borderlands 2, expected to release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC,  features more than just new weapons — there’s new enemies, locales, skills, characters and loot (of course). Right now, the release window is pretty large. How large? Well, as of now we only know that Borderlands 2 will come during Take-Two’s 2013 fiscal year. So that’s anywhere from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013. I’m sure it’ll get narrowed down a little more in the future. Sad that this time period feels so far off? Don’t be, especially if you’re going to PAX Prime. Gearbox is taking this game on the road — first to Gamescom 2011 in Germany from August 17-21, then to PAX Prime in Seattle from August 26-28. You could get your hands on
