Featured Facebook Game of the Week – Words With Friends

Zynga has finally brought the crazy popular Scrabble-esque app, Words With Friends, to Facebook! I have been playing this since I got my iPod touch and am completely obsessed by it. It”s incredibly easy to get started, just go to the app, find some friends who play, and start a game. The thing I like best about this adaptation is that you CAN take it with you. Start playing a game on Facebook, and that same game carries over to your iPhone or Droid. It’s free (with ads) and truly social, with a chat built in. Enjoy!

Ridley Scott signs on for Blade Runner sequel

Alcon Entertainment secured the rights to make any Blade Runner prequels or sequels this spring, and now they have signed on Ridley Scott to direct the new film. The storyline has not been set yet, and indeed, no scriptwriter has been hired. However, producer Andrew Kosove has stated that this will not be a remake of the original. “This is arguably the greatest science fiction movie ever made and we’re not remaking it,” he said. “It’s a prequel or a sequel.” I would agree that that movie doesn’t need to be remade, but I would think the fact that their licensing agreement specifically excludes remaking the original story has something to do with that decision as well. Scott is also revisiting the Alien universe with the upcoming Prometheus, due out next June. I have mixed feelings about all this. Is he revisiting his most popular movie universes because he has

Square Enix reveals first ‘Dungeon Siege III’ DLC

Square Enix has announced the first downloadable content pack for Dungeon Siege III, titled “Treasures of the Sun.” It offers a new plot arc with more quests, enemies and loot. You probably wouldn’t want it any other way. In Treasures of the Sun, you’re searching the Aranoi Desert for a lost member of the Legion, but you stumble upon an abbey hiding the greatest treasure the Azunite faith has to offer. This new content also allows you to reach level 35, use new attack, defense and healing abilities, reallocate talent and proficiency points, and enchant weapons and armor. The DLC should be available this October for $9.99 on Steam, Xbox LIVE, and the PlayStation Network.

    Team Bondi enters administration

Team Bondi, home of the minds behind L.A. Noire, has been placed into administration as of August 30, according to a report from SmartCompany. Apparently, the studio has been unable to survive accusations of poor working conditions, with no publishers signing on to help them with future titles. It has been rumored, but not confirmed, that Team Bondi sold off assets and intellectual property to KKM, a film studio. An additional bad omen — SmartCompany apparently tried to contact the Team Bondi offices, but whoever happened to answer the phone said that the studio “was no longer located there,” and that “no person would be available to handle media inquiries going forward.” This appears to have snowballed very quickly. Never a good thing to see a company that has managed to make a good thing go out so quickly.

    Battlefield 3 Event @ PAX 2011

In the past few weeks, I was recruited by a Top Secret organization led by a very charismatic chief by the code name of “Seeson.”  When I finished reading the invite, the amount of information I could tell anyone about it was the following… Yeah… nothing much.  The wait until PAX seemed to drag on as more details trickled out and the secrecy surrounding it grew bigger and stronger.  PAX Prime 2011 was around the corner and I was bursting with excitement as my anticipation for the event grew bigger and bigger.  I wanted to tell someone, I wanted to shout, I wanted to inform the world where I was going and speculate about the wonders I was about to see, but the safety of my fellow soldiers rested in my hands in the form of a dense NDA. I would not betray my brothers and sisters in arms! The

Are you a big fan of Mass Effect? Want to go deeper into the universe while waiting for the March 6, 2012 release date for Mass Effect 3?
