New features coming to Nintendo 3DS next month

Soon, your 3DS will do more. We first learned about the handheld’s next update before this year’s Tokyo Game Show, but Nintendo revealed a little more about features coming to the 3DS last night.

One of the bigger features will allow you to use your 3DS to record 3D video — up to ten minutes of it, in fact. Of course, the amount of video you can take is also limited by the amount of space on your SD card.

You’ll also be able to send messages to your 3DS friends via something called Swapnote — it’s like Pictochat returned! I’ll be able to draw dirty pictures, I mean…write sweet notes to my friends…really easily.

Mii Plaza and Find Mii are getting updates. So, you’ll finally have a reason to hit the streets with your 3DS again — more hats! (I still haven’t gotten all of the original ones, since there aren’t too many people around here carrying their 3DSes everywhere.)

Hulu Plus is also making its way to both the 3DS and Wii.

None of these new additions really address the main problem (a lack of games for the system), but at the “conference” last night, Nintendo did preview a couple more titles — Harvest Moon and Kingdom Hearts — but is that enough?
