Official Xbox LIVE iOS app is now available

If you don’t own a Windows Phone, you’ve been missing out on the experience of having Xbox LIVE available right on your mobile device. That changes today for anyone with iOS, as Microsoft’s made the “My Xbox LIVE” app available on Apple’s app store. (Here, you can even have a link.) The app allows you to manage your friends list, message your friends, invite new ones, edit your entire Xbox LIVE profile, change your avatar’s clothing and features and even view your achievement progress in the games you’ve played. You can even create beacons on the go that will allow you to tell your friends what you feel like playing. It all looks very slick, from what I’ve gotten to play with so far. It definitely dwarfs the other apps I’ve used to access my friends list in the past. And Windows Phone is probably still the best way to

    Meet Project Runway All Stars

The wait is almost over! I was so sad when Project Runway All Stars was delayed. But now the new date is approaching! The show starts Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime. Basically 13 past Project Runway contestants will get a second shot at proving that they are the best. Neiman Marcus is a sponsor for the show and to kick things off, they have a scheduled meet and greet. Tim Gunn will not be on this show and he explains in an interview on AOL that they were filming Season 9 at the same time as All Stars which was a bit too much for him to handle. “It may be a failing of mine, but when I’m with something, I’m there 150 percent,” Gunn continued. “I couldn’t possibly have a brain that’s going back and forth between those two workrooms of designers. I was

It’s ‘Showtime’ for ‘The Sims 3′ next March

Your Sims are about to become superstars. Well, they will in March, anyway. That’s when the Showtime expansion for The Sims 3 will debut for Windows and Mac. You’ll be able to tell your Sims’ rags-to-riches story with brand-new social features, too. “The Sims 3 Showtime is a huge step forward for The Sims franchise,” explains Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio. “For the first time, we are introducing social features that allow you to send your Sims to a friend’s game, perform at their venue in front of their Sims where you both will earn rewards, and capture and share these in-game moments of your rise to fame.” A pre-order of the expansion will net you a special “Limited Edition” of the game which features the “Ultimate Stage,” a fully-customizable performance venue with all the trimmings — props, backgrounds, lighting and special effects. Here’s a trailer for

Will you be storing to the cloud?

The Xbox Dashboard update went live last night, but not without problems. At the time that I’m writing this, I’m having issues connecting to Xbox Live, Netflix or anything else for that matter. For some reason it thinks I don’t have Gold membership. Joy. How long did it take before you got in? Did you experience any problems? I had the dashboard before it went live to play around with. One thing is that so far, I have never used it with Kinect. Kinect doesn’t work that great in my house unless it’s daylight, so playing at night I still have to use the controller which defeats the purpose of this new fancy dashboard. Second the ads. Most of the ads seem Xbox related, but I got a Chuck Norris WoW ad. Which is funny because it’s basically telling me to get off my 360 and get on my PC
