‘Max Payne 3′ has a new release date: Set your sights on May

Rockstar Games announced a new release date for Max Payne 3 today that is a bit different from the original March date — May 15 of this year for North America, and May 18 for….well, everywhere else. If you’re waiting for the PC variety, it’ll be a couple more weeks: May 29 for North America and June 1 for the rest of the world.

If you need a refresher, this sequel takes Max to a different profession in a different world — he now works in “protection” for a wealthy man in São Paulo, Brazil. But, of course, something has to go wrong, and when his boss’s wife is kidnapped by a street gang, it’s back to the shady underbelly of society for Max.

“Max Payne 3 brings powerful storytelling back to the action-shooter genre,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “Rockstar Studios are delivering a game that’s both incredibly cinematic and very, very intense to play.”

This release date move also means that you get a little more time to pre-order the “Special Edition” of the game, if you so choose — that’s been extended to April 2.
