E3 2012 Preview: Neocore Presents The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing

On Tuesday, Stephanie and I got to have a demo of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing by self publisher Neocore Games, a real-time action RPG set in a gothic-noir universe where the Van Helsing of legend had a son that takes up the monster hunting family business after his father retires. The demo started off with the teaser trailer for the game. We find out that this isn’t the Van Helsing of old and that he’s not really killing vampires here. In fact, the vampires that have been his family’s bread and butter for years have called him back to Borgovia to help get rid of even bigger monsters (literally and figuratively). There’s a mad scientist who has set lose his experiments and it’s just a lot for vampires to have to deal with considering the hours they keep. Sometimes you don’t want to have to call in you

Celebrate 25 years of Spaceballs with Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray

I feel old today and it’s not just my body aching from E3. I received a press release today that the 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray for Spaceballs will be released on August 7th. If you have not seen Spaceballs…shame on you. It stars John Candy, Rick Moranis, and Bill Pullman and is hilarious. Basically it’s a “salute to science fiction” and follows the evil Dark Helmet as he tries to steal all the air from the planet Druidia. The parody was created by Mel Brooks and has seriously funny references to Star Wars, Aliens, and Planet of the Apes. The 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray will have special new features like, “Farce yourself! Spaceballs and the Skroobing of Sci-Fi featurette. Interviews with the cast, film mistakes, storyboards and commentary by Mel Brooks.

    E3 2012 Preview: Tomb Raider

[Editor's Note: This article discusses the attempted sexual assault of Lara in the newly released gameplay video] My time at the Square Enix Tomb Raider demo was the first time GA left me on my own out into the great, blue glow of E3! Unfortunately, it wasn’t that great of an experience. As the demo began, I really liked the updated gameplay of Tomb Raider. The graphics looked decent, though the lips/dialogue were still something out of an English dubbed Godzilla movie.  Lara herself looked much more realistic when compared to the gravity-defying breasts versions of her past.  The game features lush and interactive landscapes where you will be able to roam around freely to explore an area. Disappointingly, like the preview video at E3 last year, Lara is still grunting and moaning excessively whilst jumping, falling and “gutting” a deer.  And this demo featured more of the slide, fall, slide scenarios

    E3 2012 Preview: Halo 4

Old Spartans never die…they just appear in new games. And with the plans 343 Studios has for Master Chief, he won’t be resting for awhile yet. The direction of Halo fiction and the game director for Halo 4 told us that their plan is to use Halo 4 as the foundation for the next ten years. I won’t know until November how viable that is, as this meeting only covered the multiplayer, but I am greatly intrigued by it. It also looks like I will be picking up the books, as the lore-master said that all fiction, including books, will count toward the Halo story throughout the games. That’s just great, as I don’t have enough to read. As you have seen from their trailers, Halo has a new class of enemies for Master Chief, and this new class calls for all new multiplayer. The traditional red vs. blue mode will still be

E3 2012 Preview: Gears of War: Judgment

Oh yes, you all KNOW how pumped I was to get a closed door meeting regarding the newest Gears of War chapter. I’ll try to leave some of the gushing out and be completely professional. Just don’t mind me wiping up my drool as I type. Epic Games teamed up with People Can Fly for this new Gears game, and as the two groups brainstormed for what they could do next, they passed up two opportunities I thought they would surely take: the story of Emergence Day and the Pendulum Wars. The biggest reason why they decided to not focus on these two stories–no chainsaw lancers. If you read the books, you know that Cole Train received the first chainsaw lancer prototype around five years after E-day. Therefore, both the Pendulum Wars and the E-Day scenarios would have the bayonet lancers, which doesn’t really scream Gears of War. So they decided
