    E3 2012 Preview: Star Wars 1313

Before E3, I had heard some chatter about a new title from LucasArts that was named Star Wars 1313. At the time I wasn’t trusting anything from the rumor mill, but after E3 started and more info was coming out, as a Star Wars fan I got pretty excited. It seemed that just about everyone was raving over the game, so when my appointment time came, I entered with high hopes. The room that we were taken into was made to look like the inside of a ship that was descending into Coruscant. It really set the mood for the presentation to come. We got a chance to see behind the scenes a bit into how LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Skywalker Sound and Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. all are working together to make Star Wars 1313 one hell of a game. The insight into how deeply they were going into just using

E3 2012 Preview: The Testament of Sherlock Holmes

Continuing it’s series of Sherlock Holmes games, Frogwares demoed the sixth installment of the series at this year’s E3. The Testament of Sherlock Holmes takes place in London, 1898. Sherlock is the number one suspect in a pretty serious case involving theft, fraud and double-crossings. Playing as both Holmes and his companion Watson, solving this case may prove Sherlock’s guilt or innocence. Getting into the dark side of Sherlock more than the previous games in the series, this installment is set up to be a classic problem-solving game, centered around what Sherlock Holmes does best: investigation, deduction, and problem solving. While you will get the opportunity to play as Watson and one other “special guest” character, in each location you’ll have to do all three of those things to progress through the game(with the cursor changing to indicate what items you can interact with and what type of interaction you

E3 2012 Preview – Star Wars: The Old Republic

In the six months that followed it’s launch (the “smoothest launch to date of an MMO, we were reminded), Star Wars: The Old Republic has consistently been releasing updates and patches to ensure that it continues to be the fastest growing MMO with a strong user base (also things we were reminded of during the closed-doors demo). If this demo was any indication, they won’t be slowing down with the updates and patches just yet. Starting off the string of new and exciting things SWtOR will be offering in the future is an update called Allies. This update will add on to the Legacy update they just released and give players greater Legacy content. Players will also be given the ability to tailor or customize just about everything on their character (including being able to dress them up to look like favorite established Star Wars characters). The introduction of adaptive

    E3 2012 Hands-on Preview: ZombiU

Ubisoft was incredibly excited to show off ZombiU–their Wii U first-person shooter–at their press conference, so of course I’m going to give it a whirl and see how a FPS will work on the Wii U. The answer is, it’s not implemented well. This is a typical launch product for something new and gimmicky, so it unfortunately feels like it has to show off the device’s capabilities instantly. It’s pretty blatant from the title, but I had some hopes that it wouldn’t be so inundated. Those were dashed to the ground. Players use the GamePad for control. There are no options for using the Wii Remotes or the Wii U Pro controller, as the game greatly depends on the GamePad’s screen. You use the touchscreen to switch weapons, search through your backpackers, and for your enemy radar. One radar function allows you to search for hidden enemies and loot by
