    The Hobbit becomes a Trilogy

The press release came in today to announce that Peter Jackson or Warner Bros will be squeezing the Hobbit for all it’s worth by making it a trilogy. Yes the latest Hollywood fad has hit the Hobbit. Jackson stated, “Upon recently viewing a cut of the first film, and a chunk of the second, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and I were very pleased with the way the story was coming together. We recognized that the richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, gave rise to a simple question: do we tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as filmmakers and fans was an unreserved ‘yes.’ We know the strength of our cast and of the characters they have brought to life. We know creatively how compelling and engaging the

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog makes TV debut

What started as an online masterpiece, will now be making it’s way for television. Unfortunately it’s not a sequel, but the original Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog that will be on CW on Tuesday, October 9 (9-10pm ET). Joss Whedon created the three-part online musical in 2008. It stars Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion. All in hilarious roles. Neil Patrick Harris plays Dr. Horrible who is trying to get accepted into he Evil League of Evil. Of course with Nathan Fillion as his superhero arch nemesis, Captain Hammer, hilarity ensues. If you haven’t seen it yet, tune in. If you have seen it, tune in. Either way support for Joss Whedon on TV can only lead to more Joss Whedon ideas on TV. And we can only hope for more Dr. Horrible.

    Darksiders II Hands-on Preview

THQ held a community event last week for their upcoming, much anticipated title, Darksiders II, during which they let us play the first 8 hours of the game. Coming into the event, I was very nervous about playing Darksiders II for so long, as I didn’t finish the first Darksiders game. The platforming puzzles and over-the-top Zelda cloning proved to be too much for my lack of patience, and I nearly flipped over a coffee table in rage. It really made me sad that I didn’t finish the game, as the story was so great and I really wanted to know how War’s story finished outside of reading a summary on Wikipedia. So having to play a game that could potentially make me flip something that’s not mine in rage really made me anxious. I am so pleased to say that I loved every second I had with Darksiders II.

People Play Mobile Games at Home More Than On-the-Go

According to a survey released by PopCap Games, more people in the U.K. and U.S. play mobile games at home. Half of mobile gamers in the survey said that mobile gaming is preferred over console gaming, computers and even handheld gaming systems. The couch is the number one place to play for this group of people accounting for 69 percent of gamers surveyed, the bed followed with 57 percent of people playing there as well. The car, bus, or train followed, with waiting for an appointment and while watching television dragged behind respectively. “We already know that people play mobile games ‘on the go,’ but now we are seeing mobile gamers largely favour their mobile devices for home use.” said Dennis Ryan, VP of Worldwide Publishing at PopCap. “If you add the fact we are seeing a deluge of new gamers coming in through mobile, we believe mobile

    Under Fire: Burning Vitas

I’ve been traveling a lot as of late, as most people are prone to do over the summer, so I’ve had more of a chance to play with my Vita than I have in a long, long time. My first game of choice? Resistance: Burning Skies. I’ve heard lots and lots of bad things about this game, but as I’m prone to like things no one else does and vice versa, I still wanted to give this game a shot. I’m a fan of the series and a fan of the Vita, so color me excited. Yeah, that didn’t last long. I’m not going to touch on the story, as that is not worth touching by anyone. Just know this: a firefighter fighting against the chimera isn’t as cool or as fun as the premise sounded. I’m not sure why they selected a firefighter at all when he functions just

SDCC 2012 Hands-on Preview: LEGO Lord of the Rings

Traveller’s Tales has developed some of the most creative parodies of big name series, from Star Wars to Indiana Jones to Harry Potter to Pirates of the Caribbean. One major movie/book series has been ignored thus far, and TT games has rectified this error with LEGO Lord of the Rings. When I first heard the rumor of this game, I nearly squealed out loud. I’ve been dying for a LEGO LOTR ever since they tackled the Harry Potter movies. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. The people behind TT games are huge LOTR fans, and they have been wanting to do a LOTR LEGO game ever since their first LEGO Star Wars game. They hadn’t done it before because they wanted to make sure that they did it right, for themselves as fans, other fans of the series, and the fans of the LEGO games. From what I saw and
