Why is co-op an after thought in Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare

I have been waiting anxiously for Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare since the launch of the Xbox One. There were a couple of delays, but yesterday I ran to the Local GameStop to get my reserved copy.

At this point our Xbox One has only been used to feed the cable through and play Assassins’s Creed and the Titanfall beta. I was anxious for a game that my husband and I can play together. Ever since having pumpkin my playing time has been almost non-existent. It’s incredibly difficult to find time to play. Naps are for errands, cleaning or job hunting and when she goes down at night we have two hours to eat dinner and watch tv before I go down too.

Last night we chose to take those precious two hours and play Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare. The installation took some time, so we watched Castle. Then we jumped in to play. The game is having multiplayer matchmaking issues so we decided to play split screen. I need to mention that the menu system is not very clear as to what your playing options really are. Partially through playing split screen, we got to wave 13 – I guess split screen is like a horde mode, I realize my husband is getting a ton of achievements. Well player 1 is. Which we assume is my husband but that was not clear until we went to our profiles to verify that yes he got all the achievements and I got none. When you start split screen mode it just says player 1 versus saying a gamer tag. Then while selecting a character it did have my gamer tag listed. So why the complete snub in achievements or coins etc? I used precious little time that I have available to play and it was a complete shock to not be credited for that time.

I am also disappointed to learn this is the only mode we can play together. This game could easily have been not only a great co-op game but a great family game and yet that option is totally ignored.

I purchased Plants vs Zombies as a game my husband and I can enjoy together on our Xbox One. If we can’t do that, I’ll be returning it tomorrow. Sadly the lack of co-op options is a missed opportunity for PopCap. I wish more reviews brought is up instead of glossing over it.

@gamingangel @popcap wow thanks Trina I was going to buy it for the same reasons as you, but I think I'll pass on this one such a shame.

@EnforcerX19 It's a fun game to play, but my whole concept was for us to play together. Glad I could help. Few writing about this
