Army of Two Review

Platform: Xbox 360 ESRB: M Number of Players: 1-2 Publisher: EA Release Date: March 4, 2008 Official WebsiteWriter:Rachel Rating: 6.5Rent/Pass Army of Two: The Case for Privatization Let me start by saying that Army of Two is a good game. It is a good game if you have no opinion about what the plot is trying to say, if you understand how these kinds of shooters work, and if you have someone to play with. Graphics: Overall, the graphics look great. The menu style has a sort of MTV/Army commercial look to it, like you’re supposed to be feeling really cool and raw toggling through your options. The game also has a very interesting vision mode that you can switch into, which shows you the direction you’re supposed to head (cleverly disguised as arrows on the ground!), and the enemies you should be killing. While it takes some of the

To PS3 or not to PS3 – that IS the question

I stand at a crossroads. Lately, I’ve had this nagging urge to buy a Playstation 3. Currently, I own an Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, and our roommate has a Wii. Throw in my gaming PC for good measure and I am certainly not at a loss for gaming platforms. However, there’s a bit of a completest inside me, driving me to see what it is these other people have access to that I do not. Now that the dust has had some time to settle on the heated console debate and people are out there utilizingusing and loving (?) their PS3s I wonder – is it worth it? No one can argue that the PS3 is a powerful machine. Considering it’s built in wi-fi and Blu-ray playing capabilities, the price doesn’t hurt so much (especially considering how many ‘previously owned’ systems are available). When it all boils down

A quick trip down Ninja lane

Platform: Nintendo DS ERSB: Teen Genre: 3-D Fighting Number of Players: 1-2 with Wireless Multi-card Publisher: D3 Publisher Release Date: 2/26/2008 Official Website: Naruto Ninja Destiny Writer: Rachel Rating : 6.5 A quick trip down Ninja lane Right out of the gate I need to admit something: I’ve never been a big fan of the Naruto franchise. Not to say I don’t like it, I just wasn’t that familiar with it. So I looked upon the Naruto Ninja Destiny game for the Nintendo DS with fresh eyes. Overall, I enjoyed my experience with this game. While Ninja Destiny does not reinvent the genre, it does provide some fun game play that is easy to pick up. The graphics in Ninja Destiny are on par for the Nintendo DS. The characters hold true to the series and I personally like the cell shading. Backgrounds tend to be sparse, and characters remain

Platform: Nintendo DS ERSB: Everyone Genre: Mental Training Number of Players: 1 – 16 Publisher: Nintendo Release Date: US April 16, 2006 Official Website Writers: PinkGeek Rating: Halos: 4 out of 10 Brain Age: Train Your Brain is part of Nintendo’s “Touch Generations” currently being marketed toward non-gaming types. Uncomplicated and easy to learn, the gameplay is done entirely with the stylus and voice commands. Basically, this is a simple game anyone can pick up and play. Almost a non-game, Brain Age is a series of excercises designed to boost your mental abilities, and keep your brain young. When you begin, you can run through a short series of excercises that will establish your “brain age”. Once you have created your brain age profile, you can begin your training. The first time I played I scored a brain age of 60, the second time I scored a 27. This is

    Lego Star Wars II Review

Platform: Playstation 2 ERSB: E10 for ages 10 and up Genre: Adventure Number of Players: 1-2 Publisher: LucasArts Entertainment Release Date: September 12, 2006 Official Website Writer: Rachel Rating: 8.0 Lego Star Wars II The Original Trilogy Lego Star Wars II is the follow up to the very successful Lego Star Wars, which covered episodes I-III. This game allows you (or you and a companion) to play as the various characters from the original trilogy, including Luke, Han, and Leia. Graphics and gameplay are both fairly simple, but it is a blast to play! I hate to use this word but…..this game is just so CUTE. For one thing, everything is made of Lego parts. And comedy is rampant in gameplay. Just have Chewbacca put on a Storm Trooper helmet and try not to smile. This game is truly as funny as it is fun to play. Gameplay: There are
