E3 2010 Hands On – Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Ubisoft didn’t exactly woo us with their press conference on Monday. @gamingangel, @CandiceHatesYou, and I had the chance to pop by their booth this afternoon to try out a demo of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’s multiplayer experience. We sat down on shiny, French cubes of white awesomeness (from Ubisoft’s press conference) and were immediately given the reins to the beta Assassin’s Creed love. “I’m throwin’ down, Manda,” Candice said, gearin’ herself up. “It’s on.” Oh yeah, it was on. We were introduced to the overview of Assassin Creed’s lore; our player-characters were Abstergo trainees, sent in to the Animus to counter the assassin uprising led by Ezio Auditore. The tutorial we watched was brief, concise, and still managed to be packed with informational goodies and tips on how to win the match. The goal, like most multiplayer combat matches, was to get the most kills, the least deaths, and the most

E3 2010: Nintendo talks about past and the future
Due to Los Angeles traffic we almost missed the Nintendo conference and that would have been a huge loss. I probably would have cried. We ended up being only a couple of minutes late and walked in as Miyamoto was having a struggle demoing the new Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He did make a joke about the media using up the wifi in the room. The new Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword still needs some tweaks as Miyamoto pointed out. He stated that the title will be out in 2011. In Reggie’s opening talk, he pointed out Nintendo stats but without the charts from past Nintendo conferences. Reggie left the bore at home and kept it to the concept of making sure there are titles available for every type of gamer. Nintendo announced the following titles for the Wii and DS: Wii: The

E3 2010: Electronic Arts Press Conference
As it turned out, EA had one of the most impressive shows and one of the first in the line-up of big press conferences going on right now. While Microsoft had pulled everyone around in their cultist-gear for a few hours the night before, EA sat everyone down for the business talk. Giving us handfuls of games that we wanted to hear about and innovations that would set the stage for the theme of 3D all over E3 this year. Dead Space 2 Dead Space 2’s game play demo opens to Isaac Clarke waking from a coma on a massive space city known as “The Sprawl”; the lone survivor of a horrific alien infestation finds himself confronting a catastrophic new nightmare. The Necromorphs are back and even wilder than ever. Like its predecessor, it featured exquisite sound design; dark, haunting environments; and powerful lighting. Its non-traditional HUD (heads-up display) moves

E3 2010: Ubisoft Press Conference
It was a big day for the Gaming Angels yesterday with three big names and press conferences: Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft. Ubisoft ushered us in – in an albeit scattered fashion – into the beautiful Los Angeles Theatre. Breath. Taken. I was briefly distracted by the incredible lure of architecture and vintage nostalgia. After we’d settled in and had taken stock of our surroundings, we were ready to start. And by we, I mean the audience. Ubisoft, on the other hand, was not. We waited for close to an hour in a hot, sweaty, smelly theatre, tweeting wildly. When the lights went down, we all uttered a simultaneous, “Finally.” The event started off with an interesting introduction to the Ubisoft’s new venture with Kinect and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, “Child of Eden”. Its game-play, although powered by new technology, was certainly something we’ve seen before: a psychedelic gallivant into a cross between

E3 2010: The Practice of Press Conference Day
Press Conference Day is very interesting. On paper, it looks like one would have plenty of time in between conferences to write and publish about each conference. In practice, it doesn’t work. We started the day with Microsoft. We only had one ticket at GamingAngels and so I attended why Candice and Manda stayed at home and got ahead on their appointments for the next day. The flaw in driving to Microsoft press conference is the valet line. It pulls you in and fools you into thinking…oh that was easy. Going into the conference the valet line was quick and easy. It took me over 30 minutes to get my car after. Plus I had to run home and pick up the rest of the staff. The first error in my thinking. Really, they should have gone with me and just sat in a local diner during the event. Because
