Nintendo hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters Event

In the hectic madness that is the holidays, it’s great to see companies take time to make a difference in a child’s life. While Nintendo is conducting a Mall Tour for the Wii U (I saw one in Topanga Mall last weekend – very packed!), Nintendo is standing by their commitment to give back to the community as well. The photo above is from a Big Brothers Big Sisters event in New York City. Where Irving gets to play the 3DS XL with his big brother Mike O’Connell and his mother Rahshiela. The holiday event was held at the Queens Center Mall yesterday and brought many happy moments to the kids involved. Kids were able to play the Nintendo 3DS XL and the latest games coming to the hand-held. As well as try out the new Wii U and take pictures with Mario! In the photo below the attendees got

LEGO Lord of the Rings Review

Rating: Everyone 10+ Genre: Action-Adventure Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Developer: TT Games Release Date: November 13, 2012 BUY   The LEGO franchise has been turning pop culture sensations into adorable blocky video game versions for years, creating games accessible for both kids and adults alike. The newest LEGO release, LEGO Lord of the Rings, is another successful addition to the already expansive series, and is exactly what you hope for from a LEGO game. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I was anxious to see how the game would approach the series, and whether or not it would live up to my high expectations. I was not let down. The game itself is true to what has come before it in LEGO games. The storyline of each movie is separated into a story level, which is adapted to fit the LEGO world. I love how the game is able to allow you to

    Nintendo Holiday Guide

Nintendo has usually had a relatively fun list of games coming out around the holidays and the Gaming Angels are here to help recommend some games to you for that Nintendo fan in your life. Kirby’s Return to Dreamland (E 10+) At a recent event, I was able to play Kirby’s Return to Dreamland. First of all who doesn’t love Kirby? Second, this platformer was created for families to play together. Players can easily join in or leave a game without interrupting play. Best part is no fighting over one player grabbing all the items because the team has one set score for all the items. Kirby’s Return to Dreamland encourages team work. ~ Trina           The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword E10+) Five years ago, gamers were given The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess just in time for the Holidays. Nintendo has finally given us

    Review: Oops! Prank Party

Rating: E (for Everyone) Genre: Action & Adventure, Party Publisher: Hudson Entertainment, Inc. Developer: Hudson Soft Co., Ltd. Release Date: October 7, 2010 BUY In my opinion, Oops! Prank Party is a great addition to the party genre.  Although it has been compared to Mario Party, I feel it holds it own and is super fun.  You have the option to jump right in and play with default avatars or to create a custom avatar or avatars, 40 in total can be customized.  First you’ll need an avatar name, give it your own or make one up!  Everything can be chosen from tops to bottoms, jewelry, shoes, and accessories such as hats, scarves, hair bands and bows.  You start off with many choices and as the game progresses, you can win a variety of new items.  On my very first win I won pink cat ears, meow!  Of course you can create your own look and style with facial

    Review: Tangled

Rating: E (for Everyone) Genre: Adventure Publisher: Disney Interactive Developer: Planet Moon Studios Release Date: November 23, 2010 RENT In Disney’s Tangled, you can take on adventure alone as both Rapunzel and Flynn, or play along with a friend.  The journey is completely based on the movie storyline and you’ll see many recognizable environments and hear one-liners straight from the script.  Kids will enjoy the multiple activities and working as a team with a parent or sibling is a fun way to complete the game.  My kid and I had a few laughs during our play through.  Each character has their own special abilities.  Rapunzel can use her golden hair to swing across gaps, pull objects and climb.  She can also grow flowers in “charm mode” and collect a variety of colors to draw and paint the tower wall or collect sun drops to earn points.  She can also let down her flowing
