UCB students put on King of Kong the musical

Thanks to a tip from @docwho76, if you are near the UCB area and looking for something to do, tonight a group will put on an 8-bit musical version of “King of Kong”. That’s right. A musical based on the video game documentary film about Billy Mitchell and Steve Sanders rivalry over Donkey Kong. Writers/actors Zach Paez and Matthew Patrick Davis are used to adapting odd choices into musicals. They have previously worked on “Jurassic Park”, “Shining” and “NeverEnding Story.” The performance is $5 and seems to only be tonight at 5915 Franklin Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90028. Here are a couple of songs from the musical:

Madden predicts Super Bowl winner is the Ravens

The other day I thought the Superbowl was last weekend. That somehow I missed it already. Hence the blur of time that is motherhood. Turns out the Superbowl hasn’t happened yet, but Electronic Arts has used Madden 13 to predict the winner. This year the winner (according to Madden 13) is the Baltimore Ravens over the 49ers with a score of 27-24 (tight match). It’s worth noting that EA has correctly forecasted seven of the last nine Super Bowls. Here’s the play by play action: Of course you can continue to follow the fun on Facebook where the Madden team will be interviewing athletes and providing fans with an inside look to the superbowl.

Pop Culture Shock Collectibles to release He-Man statues

Wow I cannot believe that it’s been 30 years of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I watched so much of that cartoon while growing up. Pop Culture Shock Collectibles are teaming up with Mattel to bring the characters to life in 1:4 scale mixed media statues. Unfortunately, the press release calls these statues from a “boys action brand”, but we all know that we love the figures too! “Having spent many years bringing the warriors of Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat to sculptural life, I’m extremely excited to add He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to the Pop Culture Shock Collectibles lineup,” stated Jerry Macaluso, President and Founder of Pop Culture Shock Collectibles. “There are few characters that so perfectly embody the archetype of the hero, and He-Man is just that! He’s right at home with the other muscle-bound warriors in the PCSC stable.” The first statue

    Mass Effect: Paragon Lost Review

In Mass Effect 3, Shepard doesn’t have to bond with the shipmates of the Normandy as is pretty much required in Mass Effect 2 with the game’s team-bonding missions. However, if the player in Mass Effect 3 chooses to chat with marine James Vega, Vega entreats Shepard to “dance” with him–a sparring match where Vega spills exactly why he is angry with Shepard, the Reapers, and the Collectors. It’s isn’t because his new tattoo is a wee bit sore. Vega was assigned to protect a certain colony in the Terminus systems, a colony that was unfortunately on the Collectors’ shopping list. Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is Vega’s story. The anime starts off simple enough. Vega’s team has been sent to save a colony from being overrun by the Blood Pack, a gang of intergalactic mercenaries that typically consists of krogan, batarians, and vorcha. They have a reputation for being nastily

Give the gift of laughter with PrankPacks

Who says you can’t give the gift of laughter while you are gift giving? I think the PrankPack by 30 Watt is a cute way to prank your friends and loved ones over the holidays. 30 Watt has created a new line of PrankPacks, which are empty gift boxes. When the recipient unwraps the gift and reads what the product is (such as extreme chores for a gaming system), it creates that perfect moment of confusion and awkwardness that is sure to have at least you rolling. When the gift receiver opens the package they will see a yellow flap that says “Prank You!”, and realize that their real gift is inside. “The 30 Watt R&D Labs, worked on gift bag and gift wrap innovation for many years, and the countless hours and millions of dollars have paid off, with the development of the Prank Pack—a genuine fake, prank gift
