Four brand new Monsters University trailers
It’s been 11 years since the original Monsters movie and Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are still in our hearts. Disney and Pixar have released four teaser trailers to give you a look at Monsters University. In Monsters University, we see how Mike and Sulley became best friends. Can you believe initially they didn’t like each other? Monsters University is set to come out on June 21, 2013. Both Billy Crystal and John Goodman will be back to voice Mike and Sulley. “Billy Crystal’s an amazing comedic actor,” remarked Dan Scanlon, Director, Disney•Pixar’s Monsters University. “He gave us so much fun material, we decided to cut four slightly different versions of the trailer. We are so happy to have him back as Mike!”

Disney/Pixar’s ‘Brave’ Gets Temple Run Mobile Game
The original Temple Run by Imangi Studios has some impressive stats. The single player, action app game was released last August on iOS and Android earlier this year. It was among the Top 50 downloaded apps in December 2011 which led to it eventually being the number one Free App. The simple game is easy and addicting to play with just a swipe of the finger. The basic premise of the game is to run as far as you can avoiding a variety of obstacles placed in your way and the ever present demonic monkeys that are pursuing you. Now, Imangi has teamed up with an international giant of media: Disney. Temple Run has now been redone with a Disney touch by using the protagonist of the new Disney/Pixar film, Brave, as the character running through what is now lush, Scottish territory. Temple Run: Brave is, at it’s core, just

Celebrate 25 years of Spaceballs with Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray
I feel old today and it’s not just my body aching from E3. I received a press release today that the 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray for Spaceballs will be released on August 7th. If you have not seen Spaceballs…shame on you. It stars John Candy, Rick Moranis, and Bill Pullman and is hilarious. Basically it’s a “salute to science fiction” and follows the evil Dark Helmet as he tries to steal all the air from the planet Druidia. The parody was created by Mel Brooks and has seriously funny references to Star Wars, Aliens, and Planet of the Apes. The 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray will have special new features like, “Farce yourself! Spaceballs and the Skroobing of Sci-Fi featurette. Interviews with the cast, film mistakes, storyboards and commentary by Mel Brooks.

Summer of Science!
Recently, I wrote on my personal blog about all of the things I am trying to do to keep my kids from watching television for 10 hours a day over the summer. There will be books and writing and physical fitness, but I am really looking forward to our science goal: we will be conducting weekly science experiments/projects as a family. I told the kids that I would start by choosing a few activities, but I hope that they will choose some as we go on with the summer. I told a good friend about our goals, and she picked up the latest issue of Wired Magazine for me, with Adam Savage on the cover, and I am so glad she did. While I could wish they called the article ”How to Be a Geek Parent,” there are many great projects in there, from building an artbot to cooking up glow worms to

Fantasy Friday: The ‘Game of Thrones’ Massacre
OK, so I’m really late to the game, but lets chalk that up to college monopolizing my time with boring academic readings. But I’ve finally started to read A Game of Thrones, and I have some thought on why the A Song of Ice and Fire books have spurred so much attention. Among the books, TV series and now recently the video game, I’ve been hard pressed to keep away from spoilers. While I haven’t gotten to the overly depressing parts of the series, I know that the book is morbid, and kills likeable characters keeping some people wondering if they really want to continue when all is left are despicable characters. That got me thinking. Why is it that death of likeable characters upset people to the point of not continuing reading the series? People are used to happy endings, or at least the protagonists not dying until the
