Pop Culture Shock Collectibles to release He-Man statues

Wow I cannot believe that it’s been 30 years of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I watched so much of that cartoon while growing up. Pop Culture Shock Collectibles are teaming up with Mattel to bring the characters to life in 1:4 scale mixed media statues. Unfortunately, the press release calls these statues from a “boys action brand”, but we all know that we love the figures too! “Having spent many years bringing the warriors of Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat to sculptural life, I’m extremely excited to add He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to the Pop Culture Shock Collectibles lineup,” stated Jerry Macaluso, President and Founder of Pop Culture Shock Collectibles. “There are few characters that so perfectly embody the archetype of the hero, and He-Man is just that! He’s right at home with the other muscle-bound warriors in the PCSC stable.” The first statue

Crocheting is my latest obsession, and one thing that has really caught my eye on Pinterest, craft blogs and the wider internet is amigurumi. Have you seen this stuff? It is so cute, and the potential for geeky fun is enormous! For instance, check out Nerdigurumi (on youtube, too!). Also, just look at how much Star Wars Amigurumi you can buy on Etsy! This free Yoda Amigurumi pattern is pretty awesome, too. I have been resisting taking the plunge into amigurumi myself, because I have so many other projects already in progress. However, this weekend I couldn’t wait any longer, and I had to buy Crobots by Nelly Pailloux. I am so glad I did! The little stuffed toys are so cute, from an adorable dogbot to a hilarious zombiebot to an awesome ninja. My 9 year old son is so enamored of the entire concept that he asked me

Mega Bloks passport preview showcases toys I need

Today we received an email sending us to the Mega Bloks preview site. You might remember that at BlizzCon last year we talked about these awesome MegaBloks that were World of Warcraft themed. We saw them in person at BlizzCon and now they have revealed even more details on their passport site. There is a Faction Pack that will average 25 pieces. They look great! Although I do hope they have female versions, none are shown in the prototypes. The collectible mounts are great. I love the Swift Gryphon one. There will be Deathwing’s Stormwind assault which will include a Deathwing and Stormwind. These sets are anything but small. The Sindragosa and the Lich King set are 150 pieces. The Demolisher Attack is 299 pieces and the Goblin Zeppelin is 310 pieces. There are still unannounced products and exclusives still to be announced. Hopefully that includes female characters.

    Tokidoki Barbie makes an impact

Mattel has partnered with pop culture favorite, Tokidoki to make a Tokidoki Barbie. This Barbie is considered a collectible Barbie series. Tokidoki Barbie has a pink bob, tattoos, leopard print tights, and a Tokidoki purse. She’s also walking the signature Tokidoki dog figure, Bastardino. As part of the collection, there is also a Tokidoki Barbie tshirt, and purse. The purse has such a cute lining! While online community seems astonished by a tattoo’d Barbie, she’s already sold out with backorders starting. Parents are worried that this Barbie will encourage kids to get tattoos. “It’s teaching kids to want tattoos before they are old enough to dress like that,” Kevin Buckner, of Virginia, told a local television station. Tokidoki Barbie is not the first time Barbie has sported tats. In 2009, she sported tattoos that kids could remove and paste anywhere. Some stores pulled that Barbie after complaints. The other collectible tattoo
