How many of you have seen Avatar already? I saw it today in 3D Imax and it was visually stunning. I don't want to give any spoilers on the story. I found the Navi language to be very interesting, but the actual dialogue was quite simple. That aside, I feel that the movie is definitely a huge leap forward in movie technology. Weta did an amazing job of really immersing you in the world. I would love to see this world become a theme park!

Absolutely beautiful.
Unfortunately the story felt reused and overdone with little to no character development. A good portion of the movie felt like the art director was just wacking off in your face "LOOK WHAT I CAN DOOOOO AHHHH!!!!"
The graphics and especially the presentation of the 3D was very well done and definitely a step forward for what we can expect to see from cinema in the future. I won't be suprised if this movie wins a bunch of awards. I was very impressed by how well the motion captioning and 3D imagining did in regards to making the aliens actually look like the actor that played them.
Graphics and visual wise it was breath taking in all other respects it was almost disappointing.
P.S. Sigourney Weaver makes a hot alien.

I have to agree with Skittles on some aspects of this. I felt that the art was breath-taking, and the 3D was decent. I felt like the movie was dragged out in an attempt at Character development, yet there where points in the movie where I was thinking, 'Why?" I also, had to stifle a laugh during some of the acting. Cool movie for what it was.

I loved it! I have to admit that I went in a little dubious expecting some updated version of Fern Gully or the like. I did see it in 3D. And let me tell you it took 3 tries to buy tickets for a show – in THOUSAND OAKS, CA! The first time, ok, we went like 20 minutes before the movie and it was sold out. The second time, we went at like 1 30 for the 7, OR 7 30, OR 8 pm showings and they were all but sold out (select seating and I wasn't going to sit in the first two rows). So at that point we just bought tickets to the next evening (which also ended up being sold out).
Anyhow, I was absolutely taken in. I think I would have been regardless of the 3D, but, that just added to the immersion. I wanted to be there… to become one of them. It's actually very inspiring to think about how in tune they are with their world. Sure, you can look at it like a visual effects superiority complex, the wave of the future of movies, or simple dialogue, or maybe not the most phenomenal acting, but also, you can just jump right in and experience it. I will see this one again.

I loved it. Is aw it in 3D, which I should have taken a Dramamine since I got motion sickness pretty bad. There were times where I had to watch it without the glasses.

I thought is was amazing I felt for the characters, and even if there wasn't the best of acting it didn't strike as horrible. The story was predictable, but I really didn't care. The 3D wasn't too flashy, (sometimes I forgot it was in 3D!) I felt like I was there with them, and not getting stuff thrown at me every chance they got. I would definately like to see it again.

I am so glad that technology has caught up and that massive, complex worlds such as the one in Avatar can be realised in all of their splendour!
Did the story feel a bit overused? Yes. However, I think that the aim was not to create something that would "alienate" the audience (pardon the pun) – rather, looking at common issues through a different point of view. If anything, that is what science fiction is all about – addressing ideologies in a different cultural context, accentuating futuristic elements.
My one smack-upside-the-head goes to whoever decided to put the subtitles in Papyrus font. THAT was a bit too cheesy for my taste, and detracted from a bit of the sophistication that I was expecting.
