So, I was playing Halo 3 with an old friend of mine, one that is male, and one that is much better than I am with FPS. While playing, we both get a message from some random player with a screenshot. Well, the screenshot was titled "Girl Gamers" and the caption was "put this in your file share if you don't support girl gamers". The screenshot was a bunch of weapons put down to spell "Go Back to the Kitchen". I'm sorry, I can understand not liking the girls that just play because they want to meet guys or something (yes, I've seen and known girls like this), but there are (obviously) some amazing female gamers out there.

Also, don't you think the guy that started that would be careful for females NOT to see it? It's one thing if it exists and no one knows about it, but to have it sent to females… that's wrong on so many levels. I don't know, am I just being too sensitive again?

I'm sensing a troll aura coming from that dude.

These things happen.  What matters is how well a person plays, not what gender the person is.  There are plenty of guys who hold to that.

It just goes to show you how much an idiot that guy is. :)

tira_misu: yeah, i know. that's why my halo 3 clan is me and 3 of my best guy friends… they don't care that i can barely play! i kinda got that feeling, too… but you know, it's their loss, right? they can choose to not play with any girls.

Unfortunately, I think it was his point that girls see it. He had no intention of hiding it, which means that he is a rediculous oaf trying to get a rise out of women (see Tom Likus), or someone with a really bad sense of humor. Either way, not worth your grief or effort. Wink

You should report that guy to Trixie360, RenoChan. She'll show him what's what. ;D

I would like to see that picture.

Kago, i'd show it to you, but I can't remember who sent it to me… and I deleted the message. The friend I was playing with doesn't have it anymore, either… but it might be find-able on bungie.net. I dunno… if I can find it, I'll show you. That way one (or both) of us can report him to Trixie.

Dawn, I know it's not worth it… but you know, after playing games for 16 years, I'd like a little respect… and it frustrates me that a few bad girls give all of us a bad rep. You know?

Typical of guys online. Should we start boycotting male chefs? cuz dammit I am awesome in the kitchen lol Oh and dont forget stay at home dads they have to go, they are taking our JOBS. boo hoo. seriously.

And I have to ask what Trixie would do? Does she go around banning or suspending all the gamers that talk crap? Or just the ones that don't like girl gamers? Cuz maybe we could get a black gamer that bans or suspends every person that tosses the N-word or is racist? Eventualy when we got rid of everyone who was talking crap about someone then live would be down to about 1000 gamers lol If she is gonna dish out an old fashioned ass whooping, well, I do that on the daily in Gears and trust me it doesnt matter 90% of the time, they move on to the next game and forget about it.

The guy just has to live with being a douchebag and there is nothing you can do about it.

You know, they may forget about it, but it still isn't cool. I'm not saying that they should get banned and stuff, it's just… I just want to know why some guys are such jerks. I play Halo every night with my clan. Granted, there's 4 of us and we're all best friends from high school, but they still respect ALL gamers. It's not the fact he's hating on girl gamers, it's the fact it's an assumption about ALL girl gamers that irritates me. Would you judge an entire group because of a couple stupid people that fit in that group? I would hope not.

I'm not as upset as I was at first… and there was some discussion with the friend I was playing with and I after that just fueled it… I dunno. It was still a little irritating…

Like the twitter conversation earlier… I don't care if people insult the bad gamers, female or not… but please, can't they look PAST the fact we have lumps of fat on our chests and judge us on our skills, 1337 or otherwise?

… I'll shut up now.

okay, I can take the guys being jerks in games. I just hit em where it hurts and win.

But about 5 minutes ago I had some creepo send me a friend request and I thought it looked like a tag a frend of mine may have added to his account. I was skeptical and didnt friend him right away. I joined the chat and he was breathing into the mic like a stalker and then I asked where he got my tag from. Somewhere's on the net. But I dont know where. Lonng story short, it ended with "will you moan for me" and I blocked him.

Thats the stuff that really makes me angry.

I love participating in forums and gaming communities online. This site is where I am by far the most active. But there are definitely a few. And I can't even have that without the aggrivation.

You wonderful ladies should not have to deal with that. Halo communities seem to have that more than others but you should never feel uncomfortable to play a game. I looked up instructions on how to report users. Please don't hesitate to use it. Gamers need to learn that being an a-hole is not to be tolerated.

This does work in Halo.

Note You can take two actions against offensive or abusive players: You can either mute them during a game session, or you can report their actions to Xbox Live. Not all games permit the host to remove the offending player from a game session.

For more information about how to mute users, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

817576  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817576/ ) How to mute other Xbox Live players

You can submit a complaint for one or more of the following offenses:

  • Improper Gamertag
  • Improper Nickname
  • Inappropriate Gameplay
  • Excessive Cursing/Lewdness
  • Obnoxious Behavior
  • Cheating
  • Spamming/Screaming
  • Threatening Behavior
  • Verbal Abuse

Xbox Live uses an automated complaint system. This means that you submit complaints online not over the phone. This insures fairness because the online complaint system keeps track of the players who have participated in game sessions with one another and restricts complaints to those members who have participated together in games.

To submit a complaint, follow these steps:

  1. Select Players List or Recent Players from the Pause menu, and then press the A button.
  2. Select the player for whom you want to report an offense, and then press the A button.
  3. Press the A button, and then select Feedback.
  4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to report the correct offense type for that player.

The actions that Xbox Live takes for offenses that you submit vary depending on the severity and the frequency of the complaints. These actions may include a forced name change, a forced nickname change, a voice banning, an account lockout, or an account termination.

Note Actions that Xbox Live takes for complaints are based on the frequency and severity of complaints that are logged against a player. If another player continues to bother you while you are playing online, you can use the mute feature to prevent that player from talking to you, or you can create a private game session and invite only the gamers you want to play with.

I am familiar with all that awesomeness… unfortunately just blocking them seems to be the most effective way to deal. Complaints are useless really. Most of the time people who dont deserve the complaint end up getting them. ex. girl who just whooped macho guy's butt =/

ps I have been suspended 3 times…

Yeah, my friend sent me the guy's gamertag and as soon as I get on my xbox again, I'm going to add him to my blocked list. At least it was just that one comment… I've had guys message me while talking to my boyfriend hitting on me and stuff. Oh well…

How do you report someone that's not on your friend's list or haven't played with them?

It's best to report them. You just check out their gamer profile and you can report them from there. I'm not afraid to report douchebags or live stalkers. I always block them, but Trixie has the power to ban people, yes. Anyone. Not just girl bashers. But she does run GamerChix, so she has more to do with girl gamers online.

It's all about doing the right thing.

i checked my recent player list, and he was on there, so apparently i had played a game with him.

though, when i went to ban him, i checked out his file share again. i must have been hasty, because i saw the opposing one. 'put this in your file share if you respect girl gamers' … and yes, it was respect, not support. i have the pro-girl gamers one in my fileshare (it's actually a really nice picture), and the user himself is blocked.

Heya I hope every1 is doin' well

I really don't like it when they are people who pick on gamers that happen to be women what is the problem with being a women that likes to play games Yell. I don't think gaming has to be predominately a male's domainWink.Women should'nt be ridiculed and looked down upon be/c they enjoy playing gamesCry.

@ Renochan I think its great that you enjoy playing halo 3 and I totally support people who love to have funLaugh. You don't need to pay attention to people who like to make comments like that (y).

Oh gosh I remember something similar happened to me, I signed up for a shooting game tournament with light guns*droollllls* and there was a guy who sat beside me and I was playing against him. He offered some words of encouragement and good luck but some guy beside him kept picking on me saying that

"If you lose to her your a scrub",

"Come on man its a girl she sucks",

"You better win dude or she'll put you to shame, seriously its a damn girl in a lolita getup "

But he defended me and said she'll do fine :) so luckly I played against someone who was nice xD.

I actually got that halo 3 screen shot awhile back.

My response? 1v1 me man – and when I owned him, he continued to diss me about getting back in the kitchen.

My response? I told him he was in my kitchen and couldn't handle the heat.

Then I 1v1 all his sorry friends on mute.

Honestly being a competitive gamer – girl at that – is pretty hard to find a male player who isn't going to a) make a big deal out of it or b) trash talk you. But I think it just boils down to hiding behind a screen, like how the internet is and why they bash on celebrities. Writing rude comments, they'd voice it if they felt like they could get away with it scott free. They would never do it in your face so they hide and curse you.. Tell you your fat ugly chick.

I'm like…

Who cares what the hell I look like? If I was a dude you wouldn't be busting chops on my looks so what the hell?

Sorry you had to deal with it, I can feel your frustration.

Luckily, the guys that are signed up here have the intelligence to see that we have just as much right to slice and dice in video games as what they do when they step into what is meant to be our territory – the kitchen.

Those that lack in brains downstairs (you know what I mean) have to compensate somehow – and in this case it's trying to be the big macho man lording over the ladies who should know their place by now, but have to be brought back into line via trash talk and insults.

This should not be common place in our video games experiences, and we should not just accept it as the way it is. To suggest that would be just as good as handing over your controller right now and giving in. I just hope that now we are seeing more ladies pop up in the gaming community worldwide that this leads to a weeding of this attitude towards us, and more acceptance to the fact that girls can kick major hiney in VG too.

Actually I get that a lot. I'm constantly reminded I'm not as good as all my guy friends so today. I threw everything on the table and I think  my friend gets where my frustration is coming from now. guys are super ignorant about that and they sometimes dont even notice, they guy so caught up in trying make *cough cough* something feel bigger. and they don't understnad that maybe just maybe theres a person on the other side of that microphone, listening to your insults.Really the only way to get rid of those guys, is to be armed.

1.Kill them and call them a pansy

2.when they inevitably ask for a rematch, disgrace them and call them a pansy again

3.be ready with combacks

4.When you've run out of comebacks and hes calling his mom call him a pansy :)

So there you go, I basically try to surround myself with friends that way I dn't even have to play with people like this and when I'm alone you just have to listen. You can usually just tell by there name, friends, and voice if their cool to talk too. Otherwise, calling them a pansy usually works.

;) good luck!
