Alright so recently i've been playing alot of Fallout 3(not the expansions yet, mind you) and while im really enjoying it, i kinda hate how glitchy the game is… :/

Checked out other forums for reports of glitches and freezes(which happens every so often) and apparently its common for the game to do this…especially in the expansions. Other than that, im really enjoying it and was wondering if anyone else who has played this or is playing this could enlighten me when this most likely happens/happened to you? People have been stating it happens more on PS3 though.

In any case, what is your take on the game and did/are you enjoying the game as well?

I loved Fallout 3 and I suffered from big glitches with the DLC (just read any of my reviews). I finished the game with good karma, and at some point when more of my backlog is cleared out or I just have a huge craving for the Wasteland, I will finish the neutral and evil achievements.

I personally had a difficult time getting into Fallout 3 as I do with most of Bethesda games because of the overly deep level of customization and exploration of the game. This is not to say I did not enjoy my time with it though I did not pick it up again for well over 6-7 months when I bought it before deciding to trade it in for something a little more suited to my tastes like Super Mario Bros Wii.

Thanks Yuki, i thought you'd grace this topic sometime soon :)

I…actually took the time and when i was close to lvl 8, 14, and im now nearing 20…i went to Megaton, from there went to the saloon and took a tip from someone if you access the computer terminal Moriarty has, you will lose karma for even opening the terminal and not even bothering with the cracking the code. So just keep opening the terminal and close…open and close til you get neutral(recommend you save there because it makes it easier to get to evil karma from there) then shoot up the place. ;) So far i've got all the karma achievements from past leveling but i've got another level to i hit 20.

I only have Dogmeat and keep him with me, although he does like to rush headfirst into battles and i find it hard to heal him when he runs in circles sometimes… I was smart and killed Goalie Ledoux for his +25 AP hockey helmet and chose the Ranger Armor from Reilly so i feel im doing pretty well thus far. I have Power Armor(its also been repaired quite a bit) in storage but im hesitant on using it…first, i have to get the ability to but even then, i feel the Ranger Armor is better overall…unless the Power Armor can max out over something like 45. I really like the VATS system as well.

There's something i've been wondering though, do the enemies level with you or do they average it or what? Im also finding it difficult at times to kill robots…im proficient in small guns but i wonder if energy or something else would work better on some of them or is it natural for them to absorb alot of damage before going down? I don't really use pulse grenades either since my demo skill is so-so and not good or great.

I sometimes wonder about you Mav…seriously lol

I can honestly say i haven't played many Bethesda games but i umm…did overhear some not-so-happy gamers going on about how they could be better and glitches and things wrong with games and so on. I still can't descibe what this game is like and i don't really wanna say Oblivion but…it does in a sense and i truly loved Oblivion and held out til i bought the GOTY edition of that as well. I think because Fallout 3 is fun to play, that i try my best to overlook when the game glitches or freezes on me. I guess thats where you have to gauge the pros and cons for some people and "is it really worth it?". So far, my opinion is yes, and although i've only played the base game so far, im looking forward to popping in the 2nd(GOTY edition dlc) disc very soon. I can honestly say that i haven't played a decent non-shooter that i've thouroughly enjoyed in awhile.

Energy weapons are perfect for taking down robots. And when you get the the reaver ghouls in the DLC….. Yeah… let's just say you better make sure you go into those battles carrying max health packs and your heavy duty weapons. And running like hell helps too.

Also, remember to scavenge the robots for scrap metal and missles & other random ammos.

I never got Dogmeat. I had the giant mutant for a while (forgot his name) until he died helping me take down the last Behemoth.

Ah Fawkes? Yeah, i didn't get that far yet but im close. I thought of energy weapons to be weaker and kinda figured they wouldn't do much damge to robots…the only one i have a problem with is the one with the gatling laser and missile launcher.  The energy guns were displaying really poor damage compared to other guns so i just store them away in the locker in Megaton and after i fully repair them, i sell them for more ammo and such.

I did have one of those moments where the loading screen freezes or just as im exiting the loading screen it tries to show where im at in the next room and froze…i was starting to feel that it was going to be that way forever because it kept doing it…and my patience lacking and my frustration on high about to throw my controller(which is pretty rare for me)…then i went back and saved more frequently and got to that point again and it was fine… :(

So far, nothing else like that has happened to me yet. This happened inside the Vault-Tec Buildings incase anyone cares so that they may take precautionary measures so that doesn't happen to them as well.

I think the freezing in the game is completely random. It happened to me all over the place, usually right around autosave points. My worst glitch though was with the Operation Anchorage DLC. I got this massive giant pixelated screen everytime I looked to the left. I had to quit to the dashboard a couple times before it decided to behave.

I see…well i started the Broken Steel because i was already capped at 20 and thought it'd be a waste it i wasn't still gaining exp but i'll watch out for that. Did you by any save the disc to the harddrive? Just curious. I did but hopefully that helps some…

I also found Dogmeat at the scrapyard and did a lil research…he has 500HP but apparently if you get him after the Broken Steel DLC, he has 1000…and you have to heal him yourself with stims though…which can be a pain sometimes. He won't die before you recuit him either. Nice for a distraction when you want some of the aggro off of you and nice to have an extra set of eyes that warn you of things around you.
