Viz Pictures announces release of Nana 2

Viz Pictures announced that they are releasing a sequel to the live action film NANA. NANA 2 is set to be released on July 29 for $24.98. NANA 2 follows the adventures of the two girls named Nana and starts where the last movie left off. Nana has fallen in love with Takumi from Trapnest and Nana is still dealing with her relationship with Ren. From watching the original live action, I can tell you that the girls are amazing ringers for the characters they play. It is amazing to see these manga characters come to life.

Viz Media launches a film company
Views 8
Viz Media has done an amazing job with releasing movies this summer to theaters. Fans have been able to see Live Action Death Note, Bleach, and others. Now they are launching a new production company, Viz Productions to produce and license live-action film and tv projects based on animated and manga series. The catalog of manga properties that Viz Productions will be able to choose from are owned by Japanese parent companies Shogakukan, Inc. and Shueisha, Inc., as well as publishing giant -Hakusensha, all of which are among the largest publishing houses in Japan which puts the production company off to a great start. “VIZ Productions will give Hollywood a unique conduit to some of the most innovative and unique entertainment properties from Japan. Hollywood has always looked to comic books and graphic novels and has recently discovered the untapped pool of Japanese manga for development into live action features. Worldwide, the creators of manga are viewed as artists, and the rich storylines are already a hit with the coveted 12-34 demographic,” says Jason Hoffs, Head of Production for VIZ Productions. “With our pool of resources of dramatic storylines and incredible characters coming from manga and animation, we are confident that the development of many new projects will attract the best talent, actors, directors, writers and bring a new array of films to domestic audiences.” This is great news for us manga and anime fans. Where as most of the industry seems to be pulling back, it's great to see Viz Media there to keep pushing and assisting in making what we love more mainstream and accessible. Hopefully we'll hear at Comic Con what their first project will be.
