Geek A Bye Baby celebrates the geeky family

First there is WhenGeeksWed for assistance in thinking about ideas to celebrate geeky weddings, but what about that next step? Having a baby is an amazing time in your life. While there are some trying moments, it should be fun too. Geek-A-Bye-Baby gives us geeky families a way to celebrate our geeky fandoms. Everything from Star Wars to Dr. Who. SOE announces Everquest Next

SOE players have been involved in the EverQuest world for fourteen years now. Today, SOE announced the debut of EverQuest Next, a next gen MMO. “With EverQuest Next, we’re going back to our roots — a space we defined with the EverQuest legacy — and ushering in a new era of MMOs: The Emergent Era,” said John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. “Today, many MMOs fail because players consume content faster than developers can create it. With EverQuest Next, we’re creating a living world that players are part of and empowering them to produce new content alongside the development team. What does the future hold for EverQuest Next and Sony Online Entertainment? It’s in the players’ hands, and we like it that way.” EverQuest Next has been in development since 2009 and two years ago SOE made the decision to try and build a new type of game and start

Be a hero for Sarah and support cancer research

My husband plays Mech Warrior Online constantly. Every free chance he has that is not time with the baby, he’s itching to play. I have to admit that I have not had time to try the game myself. But according to my husband it’s amazing because it’s great gameplay and fun to build your mechs. Sarah Parries and her dad played Mech Warrior together often. Sarah was only five years old and recently lost her life to cancer in Vancouver, Canada. The MechWarrior Online community petitioned for the creation of a special unique version of Sarah’s favorite Mech. This Mech will be on sale for $10 USD and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Sarah and MechWarriors affected by Cancer worldwide. You can find more details here. I don’t even play the game, and I want to purchase one in her

WarpZone can make any geeky cookie you want

This may be one of the coolest Etsy stores I have found. WarpZone makes cookie cutters that cover a wide variety of geeky interests. Athey Moravetz, the owner, teamed up with her husband to purchase a 3D printer. They are both 3D artists and worked to create things to sell on Etsy. Athey is doing what many of us needed to do in the last few years. Brainstorm about a way to make money after being laid off. They started on Etsy and now are extremely successful making everything from cookie cutters to coasters or a Hyrule Shield. How great are these for parties? From My Little Pony to Dr. Who and Game of Thrones, she really has all geeky interests covered. Follow @WarpZonePrints to find out when new designs are added. I love when people take their talents and mash them with geeky hobbies to make something we can
