The Continuum – Article and Review from GenCon 2007

Official Website: The Continuum Thursday morning, as soon as the Exhibit hall doors opened for the first time this year, I was standing at The Continuum booth (#229). The Continuum (not to be confused with the time traveling role-playing game of the same name) is a new squad based battle game, about to go into Beta Testing. The game is a combination of Miniature and Card Gaming with a slice of Role-Playing and War Gaming thrown into the mix. At first, it sounds like the developers at Seven Lights are trying to do too much, putting too much into one game. However, once I was able to meet with CEO of Seven Lights, Tim Harris and take a look at the game, I was able to see how all those elements can work together. At first glance it’s a bit difficult to find out where exactly you might be starting

Decorate your room with a Kaleidoscope

Sega is starting production on a kaleidoscop projector that you can use to paint your walls with bright, moving colors and shapes. The Japanese word for kaleidoscope is Mangekyo. The product is called Mangekyorooms. The projector itself is a bubble with a tube impaling it. It comes in all white which should match your Xbox 360, and your Wii. It also comes will different pieces you can add to change the color scheme. A must for the party thrower that would like to give her guests something to talk about. What’s better than constantly changing art? [via Trends in Japan] Follow

Take your pc on the road with the FLY Fusion pen

It’s back to school time and this year tech is more apparent than ever! Leapfrog’s FLY Fusion is a digital pen that transfers hand-written notes and drawings to the PC. Which is perfect for college students with lecture notes. There are other functions for the FLY Fusion though. You can update your schedule, create a working calculator, and you can load software for specific subjects. Let’s say you forgot the order of operations for a formula, the pen can walk you through the steps using an audio guide. The pen is priced at $79.99 and is available at most retail stores like Best Buy, Target. Circuit City, and Toys R Us. PC Mag gave it a 4 out of 5 in a review recently. It’s only for the PC and works via a USB cable. Here is a video for you to see it in action: Follow

Give your iPod a personal touch

There are tons of iPod cases at the Apple store to choose from, but what if you want a case that shows your personality a little bit more? Gerbera Designs has now created 13 variants of iPod covers that are well-designed and let your personality shine through. Gerbera Designs is the brainchild of Vannessa Brady and her husband. They initially made purses, but they switched to making iPod covers when Vanessa and her husband bought an iPod. The iPod covers are only $25 each. Each is handcrafted and takes about 14 days before you can get it. It does seem well designed with an opening for the mic port, a charging opening, and a velcro closure. Gerbera Designs next project will be an iPod tote. Which would actually be useful since my iPod ends up bring squashed at the bottom of my purse. You can see more designs and purchase

Possible new iPod line announced next week

Apple has sent out invitations for a conference next week, September 5th, but no specifics were given. Which starts the bloggers and journalists talking. Many speculate that Apple is going to announce a new line of iPods that have a touch screen much like the iPhone. Others believe that the announcement could be that Apple has finally made a deal to put Beatles music on iTunes. Stock Analysts are weighing in with their thoughts encouraging investors to buy Apple stock. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster Munster said he saw a 70 percent chance that Apple would launch wide screen, multi-touch iPods. “In light of the fact that the tag line of Apple’s special event invitation was “The beat goes on,” the final words of the Beatles last press release, we expect Apple to announce the availability of the Beatles music library on iTunes,” Munster wrote. We’ll be in Austin, but

The all-in-one digital camera and printer

Zink has created this integrated digital camera with a built in full color printer. It works just like a normal digital camera, you can preview the picture before you print it and only print out the ones you want. The photos print out as 2 X 3 prints. Even though this is a gadget, I think it’s a perfect accessory to a party. You can have a couple of these around the place and then let people take random pictures and place them on a party poster/wall. Instant memorial to the party. Let people catch and print instant party moments. You probably just want to make sure they don’t walk away! I’m actually surprise that this little guy is 7 megapixels. It should be a great picture! I’m pretty impressed. This will be one addition to a party you probably won’t want to miss. [credit Engadget] Follow
