Meet the GamingAngels.com Staff

trinaTrina | CEO & Founder of GA

trina@gamingangels.com

If you ask Trina, she was born a geek girl at heart. Starting with the Atari 2600, Trina was quickly hooked. By eight she was programming games in Basic and starting her collection of comic books. Trina created a female-based guild for Phantasy Star Online. This started the idea of what a place on the web for women gamers would look like. GamingAngels.com was born in 2003 as a video game cosplay site and transformed in 2006 to an online gaming community. Today GamingAngels.com is more than just gaming. With the help of her team, Trina has created a community where women the love all things geek can speak freely about their hobby.

Trina has appeared on panels and been interviewed about her strong opinions about women in gaming and technology fields. If she’s not working on GamingAngels.com, she might be cheering on the Vikings, playing videogames or reading Twitter.

Find her on Xbox Live with Gamertag, GamingAngel or on Twitter as GamingAngel.

yukiyukinoYukino | PR & Marketing

yukino@gamingangels.com

Born in 1980, Annette had the luxury of growing up during the beginnings of mainstream gaming, and anime’s introduction to North America. Her early exposure and love of these formats eventually led to co-owning an anime store, followed by managing a successful EB Games location. Previous to either of these positions, Annette found herself employed with a national bookstore chain. This was where she discovered her passion for event planning and marketing. She even found herself as a reference tool for a major publishing company when they started to publish Japanese manga in English.

Considered more of a hardcore gamer, Annette enjoys playing games on her Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS, and Sony PSP. Her other interests include anime/manga, Japanese TV dramas, reading fantasy and feudal Japanese fiction. Annette is currently employed as a Community Manager for a casual games website in Canada.

You can find Annette on XBL as Yuki no Kokoro, PSN as Yuki-Hime and on Twitter as Yuki_Hime.

dawndawnDawn | Casual Gaming Editor

dawn@gamingangels.com

Dawn has grown up with a passion for games of all sorts, taught mainly by her grandparents and mother, from whom she inherited her competitive spirit. Never really considering herself a “gamer,” Dawn has always enjoyed the casual side of gaming, mostly favoring word, puzzle, and seek and find games. She can, however, often be found in card, board, casino, or game show rooms on several of the popular social gaming sites, where she started and a simple hobby turned into a fascination, and a casual gamer was born.

In school, she grew to discover a deep love for writing, publishing articles in the school paper and editing a collection of poetry with one of her inspiring teachers. She took several writing classes in college and continues to write fiction in her spare time. Since graduating, she has always worked with children and taught swing dancing to adults, nurturing her playful nature. She currently teaches gymnastics to preschoolers and is studying Nursing, still making time to enjoy both writing and gaming.

kirsten gamergirlsbGamerGirlSB | Mobile Games Editor

kirsten@gamingangels.com

Kirsten is a 37 year old gamer and technology geek. She started gaming as a very young child playing Pong with her parents. They added an Atari 2600 to the family and Kirsten spent many family gaming nights playing Space Invaders with her mom, dad and sister. Holidays were spent with her aunt and uncle who introduced her to gaming on the Apple2e. In college, Kirsten developed a passion for PC gaming with anything Id Software released.

After she met her future husband, she was thrilled to find out he was an avid gamer and reintroduced her to console gaming on the original Xbox and Game Cube. That’s when Kirsten became involved with gaming communities and found other 30- something gamers and other female gamers. She joined GamingAngels.com in 2008 as a Casual Gaming Editor focused on mobile games. Kirsten currently has a 360, Wii, DS and 2 iPods. She loves to spend time playing table top games, video games, reading and cooking.

rachelsmatchiemoRachelZoe | Gaming Editor

zoe@gamingangels.com

A native to the gaming capital of the world (Redmond, WA), a love of videogames seemed inevitable. Rachel spent her weekends as a high school senior at a friend’s house hooking up Xbox-to-Xbox Halo LAN parties. While in college, a job at EB Games seemed to be the perfect place for a student and a gamer to work. After graduation, she found herself in a rewarding job in Human Resources for the world’s leading chemical distributor. Although not her dream job, it does leave more time for further education and more time flexibility. She hopes to one day become part of the process in creating the types of games she loves.

A decidedly more casual “hardcore” gamer, Rachel has a love of her newly discovered genre of “post-apocalyptic anachronist first person shooters”, as well as the old stand-by of Survival Horror, and joined GamingAngels.com as Mature Gaming Editor in 2008. In her free time spent not playing games, she enjoys drawing, playing with her dog Dogen, and reading or watching things that scare her.

enochannetzachNetzach | Gadget Editor

netzach@gamingangels.com

Netzach has been working for Gaming Angels.com since November of 2006, writing reviews, mainly on Nintendo Games for the NDS and the Wii. She has also written a number of blogs which have lent themselves to personal experience, education, gadgets, gaming events, and information which she would list under random knowledge. The majority of her work though has gone into the gadgets blog, trying to find gadgets that everyone can enjoy.

samRenoChan | Gaming Editor

sam@gamingangels.com

Sam has been playing video games since the age of 3, when her grandpa gave her the original Nintendo handheld and Tetris. Ever since then, she is rarely seen without a handheld system. Final Fantasy IX was her first step into the role-playing world, which has had her captivated since. Currently, Sam has been seen living on her Xbox 360 affectionately named Panda, playing Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead, all shooters she swore she would never play. Sam joined the GamingAngels Staff in May of 2009 as a Gaming Editor.

In her spare time when she isn’t playing video games, she’s playing her trombone or scaring herself senseless with Horror films and novels.

You can find her on XBL: KrystalineDream and Twitter as renochan.

Persia | Gaming Editor

amanda@gamingangels.com

Amanda Kay was born in Riverside, California on November 29th. She grew-up in sucky environment; one that was both technologically deficient and more-so challenged. Though she spent her childhood in the suburbs, she inhabited a huge house with a big patch of rural land in the boonies of Southern California. Even though the “country-girl” lifestyle has been permanently branded on her butt, Amanda still insists she belongs in Los Angeles. In 1992, Amanda became curious as to the causation for her older brother’s suffering grades. Shortly thereafter, NCAA Basketball for the SNES became a crash-course in video-games 101 and soon, Amanda spiraled into gaming oblivion where virtual realms became a heavy influence on her creativity. From Super Mario World to Mortal Kombat to Resident Evil, She eventually went from a lackluster, weekend-gamer to a full-time connoisseur of MMO’s and everything in-between. After City Of Heroes, Guild Wars, Everquest, World Of Warcraft, and Final Fantasy XI charred under her mighty, manicured finger-tips, it was apparent that Amanda possessed an incurable desire for the excess—she was deemed a dirty, filthy, sinful glutton under the Game Gods. Some of her favorite titles include ICO, Mass Effect, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Batman Arkham Asylum, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and Indigo Prophecy

tiffanyavatarTiffany-CTiffany | News Editor

tiffany@gamingangels.com

Tiffany didn’t choose to love electronics and video games, she was born to. With a father working in electronics sales for JVC, she couldn’t help being surrounded by the newest gadgets from birth. She was the first person she knew with a portable CD player (that was a big deal back then, okay), and she’s the only person she knows that still has a sizable LaserDisc collection. Tiffany is part psychologist (and preparing for graduate school), part journalist, but all gamer. As of now, she and her husband are a PSWii60DS household (with an extra PS, both backwards-compatible, of course).

It’s hard for her to pinpoint her favorite game category. She has a certain soft spot for JRPGs, but action/adventure games take up most of her gaming time. Her favorite series is Tomb Raider (even through the Angel of Darkness period, which we will not discuss), and her favorite game that will eventually be a series is Portal. She loves to play BioShock, despite the fact that it scares her out of her wits (beauty and story make up for scary any day). She is also a complete Apple fangirl. She thinks she can take over the world with her iPhone and MacBook, because there really is an app for everything. She loves her Canon DSLR, and needs to increase her lens collection. She has bad eyesight and horrible aim, so it is in your best interests to play against her in FPSes, not with her. You’ll win every time.

You can find Tiffany playing on XBL as mskweenie or PSN as mermaidkween and on Twitter as kweenie
