The latest Disney/Square love child looks to be fairly confusing. You know, just like every other spinoff game in the series.

But hey, it’ll be in 3D! And Quasimodo and Esmeralda are there!

Dream Drop Distance will also be able to utilize the 3DS’ additional thumb pad if you end up buying one of those. Thankfully, it’s not necessary, but I can definitely see where it would be desirable in this case.

We have Child of Eden for Xbox 360, with Kinect support. Now the PS3 version is on the way for release on September 27, a week later than originally planned.

But it appears that the developers are making up for it by ensuring Move support and adding 3D capabilities. So everyone out there with one of those fancy-schmancy televisions with your special glasses can just…well, get totally absorbed in the game, I suppose.

Game creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi even shows it off on-camera. Take a look:

Today is the big day where Nintendo announces details about the Nintendo 3DS. The 3DS introduces 3D gaming without the need for glasses.

On March 27, the 3DS will be released in Cosmo Black or Aqua Blue for $249.99.

“Nintendo 3DS is a category of one – the experience simply doesn’t exist anywhere else,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “You have to see Nintendo 3DS to believe it. And it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.”

The 3DS has two screens and creates 3D effect with the use of a 3D Depth slider so player can turn it on or off. The 3DS now has a circle pad as well.

I’m sure we’ll get more details, but there are two connectivity features. One is StreetPass, which allows owners to exchange game information with other 3DS systems as owners pass each other. The other is SpotPass which allows it to be connected even in sleep mode. That way the 3DS can get updates or new content.

Will you have enough to play? Well between March 27 and E3 in June, Nintendo states that more than 30 games will be released just for 3DS owners. These include Pilotwings Resort™, nintendogs™ , and Steel Diver™. Other Nintendo 3DS games in the works include The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™ 3D, Star Fox 64™ 3D, Kid Icarus™: Uprising and new installments in the Mario Kart™, Animal Crossing™ and Paper Mario™ series.

Our very own, @Stealthyslyth, is trying it out today at the press conference. I know this girl gamer, can’t wait to get her hands on it.

It’s going to be taking another step out of your television when a free PS3 update for the game adds the ability to play in 3D.

“The authentic broadcast presentation of NBA 2K11 is something we’re really proud of,” said Greg Thomas, president of product development for 2K Sports. “The new 3D capabilities literally add a new dimension to the experience and provide a level of immersion that has never been experienced in a basketball video game.”

Unfortunately, the initial rollout is only at Best Buy locations, so you may have to relocate your plans for a 3D NBA Finals. The downloadable game upgrade for home gamers won’t come until January 2011, but it will be free.

(All options require the active-shutter glasses, of course.)

“Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops. Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains, and moving through highly detailed environments are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops,” Mark Lamia said. He’s Treyarch’s studio head.

The 3D can be enabled and disabled at any time throughout the game.

At Sony’s press conference at Gamescom 2010 in Cologne, Germany, they announced a few things specific to European audiences, but others that might just make the whole world squee with joy.

The PlayStation Slim has apparently spurred a great amount of console purchases, and two new models of the PS3 coming to Europe will offer larger hard drives. A 320GB model will replace the existing 250GB model and will be available as part of a PlayStation Move bundle that comes in at £284.88. Starting in October, a 160GB model will phase out the 120GB Slim and be sold at the same price, £249.99. (These models will be coming to North America in the fall, according to Kotaku.)

The next upgrade to PlayTV (only available in Europe) is coming later this year, and will include PlayTV Live Chat. This adds a community to your television, allowing you to watch shows with an onscreen text discussion. Might not be awesome for watching a sitcom, but when it comes to sports (I hear they love real football over there), the discussion about referees could get pretty heated. In other television news, more Catch up TV channels are coming, with six new channels on PS3 across Europe.

As far as adding more community to media goes, film streaming service MUBI allows you to watch an expert-curated list of independent and classic films, right on your PS3 with an app available in Europe this October.

Ted Price, from Insomniac Games, announced two titles – Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One and Resistance 3. The latest entry in the popular Ratchet & Clank franchise allows up to four players to battle side-by-side as Ratchet, Clank, Quark or Dr. Nefarious. All that was shown of Resistance 3 was a trailer, and it’s right here:

Apparently, the PSP is better at engaging younger gamers, what with its services like digital comics and minis working out very well, and the Essentials brand appealing to Mom’s pocket, too. More titles are being added to the Essentials range, including Wipeout Pure and Patapon.

Sony’s still very serious about the whole “3D gaming” thing, and they detailed what lies ahead for 3D. Like we found out at E3, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3 and MotorStorm Apocalypse will all have optional 3D support.

Sega’s Virtua Tennis 4 looks like it’ll be a title to watch, what with both Move support and 3D capabilities right out of the box.

We all knew the Nintendo 3DS details were coming out at E3 this year. But I was not prepared for how much the details of the 3DS would excite me. The potential for this little piece of hardware are insane. The Nintendo 3DS will open a new world of possibilities to gaming and as a gamer, that makes me giddy.

Let’s run down the specs first:

The 3DS is light at about 8 ounces.

The system is 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long and .8 inches tall

The colors are to be determined I believe.

The top screen has 800×240 resolution.

There is one inner camera and two outer cameras.

A “slide pad” is new (and feels great) and it includes a motion sensor and a gyro sensor.

The 3DS also includes a 3D Depth slider which allows gamers to adjust the level of the 3D effect. This means you can turn the 3D effect off.

To add to the excitement, Nintendo announced the large group of developers that are already excited and embracing the 3DS with ideas and concepts.

After the press conference, we held the 3DS and watched a demo of various images that have been made for the 3DS. @Mandalove and I left excited and ready for our hands on at the end of the week. When the time arrived, and we had that hands-on, I was able to play a few demo games and watch a few movie trailers.

Nintendogs in 3D was very cute. True to the original game, the 3D effect just adds more depth to the title. No cats were available to view, but this title will include cats. After that I watched a movie trailer which was playing seamlessly in 3D. During the trailer, I turned the 3D effect off and all the way back on and it transitioned with ease.

I then played DJ Hero in 3D. This was fun, but also a bit difficult to watch. For the Sims 3, I took a picture of myself and inserted it into the game. It didn’t look much like me, and the Nintendo girl stated that all the women that took a picture came out exactly the same. Not good for confidence that the camera is really working.

I really didn’t enjoy StarFox on the 3DS. At first, it seemed okay, but when I rolled the 3D would go in and out on it’s own and made me a bit nauseous.

Although the demos I saw, did not exactly blow my mind, I do still believe in the 3DS. I feel like it has huge potential and was really amazed that Nintendo has figured out how to provide a 3D gaming experience without the glasses. As someone who wears glasses, it is a huge advantage to not have to wear the 3D glasses over my own glasses to get a 3D experience. The 3DS was definitely one of the best things at E3 2010.

A Sony presentation talking about their consumer strategy moving forward showed some interesting plans that Sony has in store for their gaming area.

After showing 3D gaming at GDC and CES, Sony has confirmed that it intends to put the Playstation 3 as a 3D Games console to be used with upcoming 3D tvs. The current Playstation 3s “will be firmware upgradable to 3D”.

There was also mentions of a “new revenue streams from subscription”. That’s right gamers, something may be threatening the free Playstation Network. The argument of a free online service is what Playstation fans have been using to justify the PS3 experience. But it appears that may change and there may be subscriptions coming down the line to access Sony’s top-end PSN services.

RealView Innovations has created new technology that creates a 3D experience on the PSP. The V-Screen is an attachment that enhances the perceived depth of the 2D screen image ont he PSP.

“The innovation uses special optical components in unconventional ways,” states Eamonn Ansbro, an Optical Engineer who is co-Executive Director of RVI. “No software, electronics or headgear is required. Nonetheless, the optical results are astonishing.” Continued Ansbro: “The video game industry is a perfect fit for our technology. The V-Screen offers consumers a tremendous leap forward in optical enhancement.”

The V-Screen will be sold through a variety of US-based companies including Red Lion Interactive. The V-Screen should be out to retail in time for holiday gaming.
