Ubisoft reveals “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood” Collector’s Edition

Having a fantabulous Collector’s Edition for a sequel seems to be a rite of passage these days. We’ve seen our fair share of them this year. Gone are the days of only adding a metal case and a soundtrack disc to a Collector’s Edition, this year, it’s all about crazy, limited-edition collectibles. Luckily, we can count Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood among these. Not only does $100 get you a copy of the game and a special bonus disc containing video, the soundtrack and more, but you also get a lovely art book, bonus DLC, and one of two jack-in-the-boxes. If you want the “Harlequin” version, pre-order at GameStop, but everyone else that pre-orders gets the “Doctor.” It’s worth mentioning that if you’re in Europe, your offer is a little different. The European “Limited Codex Edition,” described here by Joystiq, looks a lot more interesting, but doesn’t offer any harlequins jumping out

Next Assassin’s Creed Title, Brotherhood, Adding Multiplayer Mode

Time to start up the Animus again. Yesterday, Ubisoft announced details for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. It will ship this holiday for 360, PS3, and PC. You play as Ezio once more in a struggle against the Templar Order. He must go to Rome to fight the order, but he also needs an entire brotherhood to take them down. This game is the first in the series to offer multiplayer. To help the Templars, you can use Abstergo to train in the art of assassination. You will have several characters to choose from, with each having their own assassination techniques and weapons. You’ll be able to challenge Assassin’s Creed lovers worldwide in a variety of modes.

Ubisoft Wants You to Learn About the Next Assassin’s Creed Game from Abstergo

Ubisoft is inviting you inside Abstergo Industries to get a look at some weapons. There’s also a little game that nets you a prize if you’re in the market for some Assassin’s Creed wallpaper. What’s all of this for? Well, most people are guessing that it’s for an Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood reveal, and the clock in the upper-left is a pretty good confirmation of that. We’ll probably know in about 12 hours then, hm? One guess right now (completely confirmed by the real box art that popped up, by the way) is that the game might actually contain a female playable character. Well, it’s not like anyone who isn’t a lady uses a fan as a weapon anyway, right? (Please prove me wrong with fan art or otherwise. I want amusement.)

Hey, Ubisoft! Your DRM for AC2 – Not Such a Good Idea, Actually

Oh, hi there, Ubisoft. Look, I know you want to keep the pirates’ paws off your games, and you implemented some crazy DRM to keep only paying customers in the loop, but it seems to be backfiring a little bit for you. What? Oh, yeah, we know you fixed the game so you can start again at the point where the Internet connection dropped off. That was awfully nice of you. I mean, I don’t see why you didn’t do that from the beginning, but whatever! We’ve gotten past that. Assassin’s Creed II requires an Internet connection to play, yes? So it can continually check in to your servers to make sure the player’s copy of the game is legit, correct? So anyone without Internet access can basically kiss playing your games goodbye and you don’t care. It seems that you’ve left one little piece out of the puzzle, though.

SC:Conviction Delayed Until April 2010, New Assassin’s Creed This Year

Ubi Montreal’s Marketing Manager Christophe Grandjean announced via Twitter today that Splinter Cell Conviction has been delayed until April 2010. It’s only a couple months, however it makes sense seeing as Bioshock 2 is going to steal the limelight in February, and it wouldn’t want to compete with Final Fantasy XIII in March. There has been no official press release so far detailing why. Also from his Twitter stream, it appears a new Assassin’s Creed is due to be released during fiscal 2010-11. It remains to be seen if this is Assassin’s Creed 3 or another game tied to the trilogy.

My Spike VGA Picks and Predictions Part 2

Welcome to part two of my three part look at this year’s VGA nominations. You can read the first part here. Best Fighting Game Nominees: BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, SoulCalibur Broken Destiny, Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6 My Pick: Street Fighter IV Most likely to win: Street Fighter IV SFIV was one of the most anticipated fighting games of our time and this year fans of the fighting franchise were blessed with a new title. While the game had flaws, it was a higher profile game than any of the others in this category. Tekken 6 was only recently released, which is why I think there should be a cut off date for games included in these awards. BlazBlue was a great game, but very technical. (I should know. I have it and you can’t just button mash they way I like to with fighters). Best Action Adventure Game Nominees: Assassin’s

    Review: Assassin’s Creed II

Rating: M for Mature Players: 1 Genre: Action-Adventure Publisher: Ubisoft Release Date: November 9th, 2009 BUY **This review contains some spoilers** Assassin’s Creed II, one of Ubisoft’s largest budget titles of 2009 picks up directly where it’s predecessor left off, with our friend and memory vessel, Desmond Miles along with Lucy, trying to escape the Templars and Abstergo. Lucy leads Desmond where we are introduced to Shaun and Rebecca, two allies of the Assassin’s with their own Animus. After plugging Desmond in, the player is immediately plunged into beautiful Renaissance Italy, c. 1476, and the game truly begins. We assume the role of Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, Desmond’s ancestor who is also a descendent of Altair. Ezio, our new soon-to-be-Assassin is about to engage in a street brawl with his rival, Vieri De Pazzi. The action and atmosphere are superbly done, but there are still a few hiccups players might

Ubisoft launches UPlay services with Assassin’s Creed II

Assassin’s Creed II launched last night at midnight and Ubisoft has announced that players on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will be able to use the interface in-game to connect to the UPlay beta. What is UPlay? UPlay is Ubisoft’s online network that has four primary services: Uplay Win, Uplay Help, UPlay Share, and UPlay Shop. Only UPlay Win will be in the beta. UPlay Win lets players collect units based on their action in the game and exchange for exclusive in-game content or goodies.
