Atlus to publish ‘The King of Fighters XIII’ in North America

Atlus announced this week that they’ve acquired the rights to publish The King of Fighters XIII in North America. Wow, there’s been 13 of those? I have clearly not been keeping up. Anyway, the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 title will feature fan-favorite characters like Mai (seen to the left), K’ and Vice. The engine’s also been improved as well as network connectivity. The developer appears to have been paying attention to community concerns after the twelfth release. Six new play modes have also been added, there are more moves…it sounds like fans of the series have a lot to look forward to. “We are excited to work with Atlus to bring The King of Fighters XIII to North America,” said Ryo Mizufune, President of SNK PLAYMORE. “Fans have waited patiently for an HD iteration in the series that could live up to the proud tradition of classics like KOF ’98. The E3 trailer for ‘Catherine’ is full of indecision

Vincent Brooks is the main character in Atlus’ Catherine, even though you wouldn’t know that by the title alone. This curly-haired Spike Spiegel lookalike is afraid to commit. He really shouldn’t worry about that. A lot of guys are. Unfortunately, he’s easily tempted by the title character. Learn a little more about him in Atlus’ E3 trailer for the game, which releases in North America on July 26.

Atlus details a very interesting special edition for ‘Catherine’

So, the image above is the entire kit and caboodle coming with the Deluxe Edition of Atlus’ Catherine, titled “Love Is Over.” For a game that seems so weird in the first place (and that weirdness makes me want this very, very badly), this is…well, fitting. Let’s go over the contents, shall we? You get that nice pair of polka dot boxers, just like Vincent’s (girls — prime pajama material, am I right?), his “Empty Hearts” T-shirt (which is Vincent’s, but is worn by Catherine) and, um…a pillowcase with Catherine on it. It’s supposed to be all symbolic and stuff, but that’s just kind of creepy, I’m sorry. It’s all packaged within a pizza box from a bar in the game called Stray Sheep. Which just makes me think Little Bo Peep, but that may be the point. Atlus also announced that pre-orders all receive copies of the soundtrack and

Atlus releases official teaser for “Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked”

Atlus USA released an official teaser trailer for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked today. The game is currently due to launch on Nintendo 3DS this summer. “With all the additions and enhancements Overclocked will offer Nintendo 3DS owners when it releases this Summer, and considering how Devil Survivor stands as one of the best reviewed Atlus games of all time, one would think we wouldn’t have need to release a teaser trailer,” commented Aram Jabbari, Manager of Public Relations and Sales at Atlus.  “But we’re releasing one anyways and it’s full of teasey goodness, showing off the game’s fully voiced dialogue, new story content, and improved visuals.  We tease because we care.” This new version of the game features voice acting for the entire narrative as well as a special eighth chapter of gameplay. The game also benefits from the 3DS’s higher resolution screens. Watch the trailer below.

Teaser for “Catherine” is creepy and chill-inducing

Atlus’ sexy-creepy Catherine is officially coming to North America, and it’s brought a trailer to match that feeling. When I watched it, I got chills – but maybe I’m just weird. Catherine lands on store shelves sometime this summer.

“Catherine” announced for a summer 2011 North American release

Oh, thank goodness. After a few days of speculation by press on whether or not sexy Persona 3 Portable semi-spinoff Catherine would ever make it to these shores, Atlus announced that the game would arrive in North America during the rather-vague “Summer 2011″ period for both Xbox 360 and PS3. That’s a lot better than “no plans at this time,” right? The game’s official website, catherinethegame.com, will launch soon. In the meantime, here’s a game description from Atlus: About Catherine Vincent likes his girlfriend.  Katherine’s pretty, smart, and successful.  Trouble is, she’s starting to talk about long-term commitment, something Vincent’s spent his entire life avoiding.  Since romantic complications are the last thing he wants to deal with, Vincent meets his friends for their regular night of drinks.  Little does he know that he’s about to be blindsided by a beautiful, seductive, irresistible freight train named Catherine.  Suddenly, he’s hung over

    Atlus reveals “The Cursed Crusade”

Today, Atlus announced The Cursed Crusade, an action-adventure game in development with Kylotonn Entertainment. The title is set at the end of the 12th century in Europe, and it tells the story of warriors fighting to save their souls. It features both online and local co-op on Xbox 360 and PS3, and it is scheduled for release in Summer 2011. “A story of salvation and survival, The Cursed Crusade brings to life the mystery and allure of the Middle Ages,” said Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales. “The game’s main characters are not heroes; they’re just men, susceptible to temptation, easily made to feel doubt and despair. The raw, gritty accuracy of many of the game’s historical locations is sharply contrasted by Denz and Esteban’s supernatural struggle to save their souls.  Their affliction, the Templar’s Curse, threatens to accelerate their descent into hell, burning their humanity away as it engulfs the space around

Atlus gets in on the free-to-play MMO action with “Pandora Saga”

Even Atlus, with their Atlus Online division, has jumped on the free-to-play MMO bandwagon, this time with Pandora Saga. The game features battles with up to 600 players (in PvP mode, I believe) and also manages to focus on strategy in real time (though how you manage that with so many people playing – I don’t know). The game is coming to North America in early 2011 (but if you want to know more now, search YouTube – this thing’s actually been out for a while). A closed beta will begin in December. “Our goal with Pandora Saga is nothing less than raising gamers’ expectations for what a free-to-play MMORPG can be,” stated Producer Justin Guthrie of Atlus Online.  “Impressive scope and real-time combat involve and engage the player, bringing the back story and turmoil of the game world to life, while the various character and battle-related customization options give

“Knights in the Nightmare” gets a PSP trailer from Atlus

Strategy RPG “Knights in the Nightmare” for the PSP has an official trailer from Atlus USA. Yes, the game was previously released for Nintendo DS, but the PSP version does add some flair. You’ll be able to play as Princess Yggdra for the first time, meaning that you get a grand total of three perspectives, or three playthroughs, if you’d rather think about it that way. This version of KitN features remastered visuals and sounds, with new, optimized controls and a new opening movie that will look familiar to everyone who loves Persona 3 and Persona 4 – Yukio Takatsu directed it. The PSP version also adds even more tutorial missions, making it even easier to learn. Check out the trailer below:
