Sam Worthington to produce and star in The Last Days of American Crime
Radical Comics has announced that Sam Worthington (star of James Cameron’s Avatar) has signed on to do a film adaptation of The Last Days of American Crime. Sam Worthington will star and produce the film. “I had met Sam’s producing partner, Michael Schwarz, at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, who loved the concept for The Last Days of American Crime” said Radical Publishing’s President and Publisher, Barry Levine. “I figured that since Sam had done three tentpole movies back-to-back with Terminator Salvation, Avatar and Clash of the Titans, that he would want the more character driven role of Kevin Cash, the sociopathic partner to Graham Bricke. Michael had set up a meeting between Sam, CAA agents Kimberly Hodgert and Jon Levin along with myself to discuss Last Days. During the two hour meeting, we hit it off and Sam had committed to both star and produce.” The Last Days of

Twisted Pixel Games on Avatar Rewards
Splosion Man was supposed to be the first game to support Avatar Rewards, free items for your avatar that you unlock in-game. Instead they ended up being second, but that’s not due from lack of effort from Twisted Pixel Games. Twisted Pixel Games are very supportive of their fans and really wanted to create and make available Avatar Rewards for Splosion Man and future games. In a quote from Mike Wilford from Twisted Pixel Games, he explained that the delay was not entirely something they controlled. “The avatar awards have not been released yet, and unfortunately I can not tell you when that will be because I have not received a release date from Microsoft as of yet. However, they have said that it will be soon. There weren’t any difficulties to speak of, really… we made up some avatar clothing, used the API calls that Microsoft provided, and it

Get your avatar in the Halloween mood
Halloween is about two and a half weeks away, and while you may not dress up, if you want to spend the money you can dress up your avatar. Plus side, it’s probably cheaper than buying yourself a costume. Prices for avatar Halloween items range from 80 MS Points to 240. Items range from various themed hats to full costumers for witches, vampire, ghosts, mummy, and others. My guess is the vampire one might be popular just cause of New Moon alone. They even made a werewolf, but it’s only available to dudes. Take a look at all the various avatar costumes here.

Avatar items coming for Modern Warfare 2
Your Xbox 360 avatar will be able to get into the Modern Warfare 2 mood with items provided by Infinity Ward. Rob Bowling recently twittered that the avatar items most likely won’t be in the form of Avatar Rewards but will be in the Avatar marketplace. Bowling hopes that it will be free. “Not sure we’ll be doing any Avatar rewards, but we are making avatar items. With some free ones hopefully.” Modern Warfare 2 is out on November 10 for the PS3 and 360. A British paper, the Daily Star, is a bit late to the game, calling out Infinity Ward for providing tools for “peeping toms” and making gaming fans a “army of ogling pervs”. Their reason for making these claims are two comments left on game sites about the Prestige Pack’s night vision goggles.

Avatar trailer debuts online
The day before the “Avatar” preview shows in Imax theaters worldwide, a trailer appears on the Apple website. The two-minute long trailer shows Sam Worthington as a paraplegic that is linked to an alien life form on the planet Pandora. This Friday, over 100 Imax theaters will screen a 16-min feature with an intro by Cameron. Which if he talks like he did at E3, could take up most of the film. The official website had a ton of problems Monday when people were trying to get tickets. The site crashed, then people found a different link. In the end, I have my tickets for this Friday. Did you get tickets? The preview is at 6pm and after seeing the trailer today, I can’t wait!

Splosion Man Avatar Awards
Avatar clothing is a big deal here and it looks like the first company to include in-game avatar clothing awards will be Twisted Pixel. The awards will be coming to Splosion Man. To get these, break your first pane of glass in Splosion Man and complete the entire co-op campaign. If you’ve been playing and have already done both of those tasks, then your items will automatically unlock. No date on when this will happen, but soon seems close. [source Joystiq]

Get a ticket to see Avatar trailer sneak peek online
James Cameron’s Avatar may be a very special movie. At least Fox is treating it that way. Free tickets will be distributed online starting Monday for special Imax showings of a 16 minute trailer for Avatar. James Cameron does an intro in the trailer which 101 Imax venues will show on August 21. “It will be two tickets to a customer to keep people from hoarding,” Fox distribution boss Bruce Snyder said Wednesday. “We expect a tremendous amount of interest from the fans who are aware of ‘Avatar.’ “ While the trailer will include some footage that others may have seen at San Diego Comic Con, there will be at least one new scene. Also look for a trailer from Ubisoft for the upcoming Avatar game. Go to www.avatarmovie.com/ on Monday to try to get tickets. [source via THR]
