    Review: Batman Arkham Asylum

ESRB: T for Teen Genre: Action Adventure Number of Players: One Developer: rocksteady Release Date: August 25 2009 Rating: Buy it! Buy it from Amazon for the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 Visit the official Batman Arkham Asylum website I have never been the biggest fan of comics or comic based video games (and even less of a fan of comic based movie video game tie-ins). However all the hype about the latest Batman installment from the team at Rocksteady had me extremely curious, so I sat down and put a few days into the story mode of Arkham Asylum and was pleasantly surprised with the results. When Batman captures Joker a little all to easily, he escorts the maniac to Arkham Asylum where things are not at all as they seem. With the assistance of the ever doting Harley Quinn, Joker and his men have set a trap for

Batman stays on top of the UK Game Sales charts

Batman : Arkham Asylum holds onto the top spot in the UK game sales charts for last week. With Wii Sports Resort just waiting for it to falter. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare makes a HUGE move from 10 to 3. That game has been all over the place on the charts. Dissidia Final Fantasy enters at 10 and Champions Online enters at 18. The most popular publisher in the UK right now is a tie between Activision and EA at 4 games each. EA though is starting to see their sports titles fall a bit, so we’ll see how long they can hang on.

Batman takes over the UK Game charts

Batman is a very popular DC character, so it’s no big surprise that probably the best Batman game made yet, is on top of the UK Game Sales charts this week. Batman: Arkham Asylum has beaten out Ashes Cricket 2009 for the top spot. Ashes Cricket 2009 drops to number 3 as Wii Sports Resort drops down to number 2. Activision’s Wolfenstein fell to the fourth position while Wii Fit rounds out the top 5. The biggest move is definitely Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from 17 to 10th position. Maybe a free xp weekend? But then Activision has some problems as Prototype drops to 16 from 10. Nintendo has been knocked out of the top publisher spot in the UK while EA and Activision duke it out to see who will be number 1. Both are tied at 5 titles on the countdown each.

Guest Game Preview – Batman: Arkham Asylum

Through-out the years, fans of the comic-book have been able to satisfy their craving by becoming “one with the shadows,” so to speak. True ‘Batheads’ have probably played multitude of games with the word “Batman” slapped-on, dating back to the microcomputer. Even the 2005 film “Batman Begins” spawned a slightly above-average video-game, where critics were largely unimpressed by everything but it’s graphics. Pandemic Studios later alluded to “Dark Night” receiving it’s own translation, but the title was later announced to be cancelled. This minor setback however, failed to stop Rocksteady Studios from unleashing bat-fury on our next-generation consoles. “Batman: Arkham Asylum” greets us with bats, darkness, and psychopaths—just as expected. One thing gamers and followers of previous titles may not be expecting is a decent game. “Arkham Asylum” seems to revolve around the criminals of Gotham City, all mixed together in psychopathic hell. Batman’s previous track-record may have created a

The demo starts with the Dark Knight and Commissioner Gordon returning the Joker back into confinement at Arkham Asylum. Joker ends up with the last laugh and sets Arkham Asylum’s residents against Batman. I hope we’ll see Harley Quinn. I really like how they designed her for this title.
