Apple Corps, MTV and Harmonix have announced that The Beatles album, Rubber Soul will be available to purchase and download on December 15.

Rubber Soul is the third album from the Beatles to appear at the Rock Band Music Store.

Beatles Love

Way back in September, we mentioned the Gamestop Share Your Love contest. The contest is winding down and will be ending on November 16, 2009.

Which doesn’t leave you much time to get your entry in. We’ll help you get inspired by giving away a copy of The Beatles: Rock Band for the Playstation 3. It’s just the game, but it definitely can help with inspiration for the contest.

For the GameStop contest you’ll need to write a love song that uses titles from Beatles songs. The winner gets roundtrip airfare to Vegas to see The Beatles: Love (in VIP seats), and accommodations at the Mirage Hotel.

Rock Band Beatles

Some may think that the music game genre may be over-saturated and starting to die off, but a new study shows that’s not true.

DFC Intelligence used information from GamerDNA for the month of September to monitor the usage of The Beatles: Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5 on the Xbox 360. They looked at how many played the music games and how many played both titles.

The figures show that 45% of Guitar Hero 5 users also played The Beatles: Rock Band. The percentage drops abit the other way to 34% of Rock Band users play Guitar Hero 5.

Miller claims that “considering that this was only the first month of release for the products this is a surprisingly high overlap, that suggests strong loyalty to the concept of music games in general.”

The figures do show that Beatles: Rock Band did attract a new user base to music games. Amongst worldwide users, 64% of The Beatles: Rock Band users had not played Guitar Hero World Tour or Rock Band 2.

Fox Business sat down with EA’s John Riccitiello where he discussed everything about EA.

He spoke about the upcoming holiday season and how he is confident that EA will see a jump in sales for Christmas season.

They also talk about The Beatles: Rock Band, online market in China, Bioware, and how much he loves Dead Space.

I love how he says, “We don’t make things people have to have, we make things people want to have.” I don’t know, I have to have Dragon Age Origins and quite a few other upcoming games.

Halo 3 ODST

Halo 3: ODST knocked everyone out of the UK Charts last week in terms of game sales, taking the number one spot. DS Puzzle game, Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box entered at number 2 spot. Need for Speed Shift and Guitar Hero 5 both moved down from 1 & 2 to 3 & 4.

Some more interesting moves is that The Beatles: Rock Band continues it’s decline in the UK, and Professor Layton and the Curious Village shows up in the number 18 spot.

Nintendo has won the publishing crown again with 6 spots in the top 20, mostly thanks to older titles like Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, and Wii play.

Need for Speed Shift

Need for Speed: Shift raced to the top of the UK Charts Last week sending everyone else down one spot. Guitar Hero 5 went to 2, Colin McRaeL Dirt 2 goes to 3 and Batman: Arkham Asylum goes to 4. WET enters the countdown at 6 and what I find curious is that The Beatles: Rock Band can’t really find any traction in the UK and slips from 4 to 7.

Call of Duty: World at War continues to fall down the charts from 14 last week to 18. Barely staying in the countdown.

The leading publisher is EA Games with four titles. Activision, Nintendo, and Eidos tie with three titles in the countdown.

The Beatles: Rock Band is doing more than providing entertainment to gamers worldwide, it’s also raising money for charity. Benefiting charities with the download of the exclusive Xbox Live track, “All You Need is Love” and the auction for the limited edition “The Beatles: Rock Band” Xbox 360 console. The consoles had over 110 bids from around the globe raising $17,300.

With the $17,300 raised from the console, Doctors Without Borders will be able to buy equipment to carry out 86,500 immunizations and purchase emergency kits for more than 2,800 people.

“We are thrilled over the contributions to us so far from downloads of ‘All You Need Is Love,’ and from the auction of the beautiful, one-of-a-kind Xbox console,” said Dr. Matt Spitzer, president of the board of directors of Doctors Without Borders. “We are incredibly grateful for having been selected as the beneficiary of this promotion. Funds generated from initiatives such as this can go a long way,” he added. “Severely malnourished children will be treated, people displaced by war will receive life-saving medical care, and people living with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and other neglected diseases will have access to the medicines they need. On behalf of our patients, Doctors Without Borders says ‘Thank You.’”

“All You Need Is Love” track broke records for being the fastest selling downloadable song in Rock Band history. As a bonus, continuing through December 9, players who download the track for 160 MS points will be registered in the “The Beatles: Rock Band” Download and Win sweepstakes to have a chance to win a limited edition “The Beatles Rock Band” 360 Consoles and a Rickenbacker 325 replica guitar controller. Shirley Manson in Guitar Hero 5

Activision is having problems with Courtney Love over the use of Kurt Cobain in Guitar Hero 5, but that’s not slowing down game sales. Guitar Hero 5 entered the UK game sales charts for last week in first place. Colin Mcrae: Dirt 2 took second place while The Beatles: Rock Band took fourth. All three are new to the chart pushing down Batman: Arkham Asylum to third spot and Wii Fit to the fifth spot.

Call of Duty: World at War made the biggest shift downward moving from 8 to 14 on the charts. Last week the title skyrocketed, but it looks to be normalizing out now.

Nintendo takes the top publisher spot with four titles. Other publishers have three or fewer games in the top 20.
