The ire of the Internet gets it wrong

Ah Internet. Sometimes you seem to only be filled with idiots. After reading Destructoid’s article on a BioWare writer being attacked on the internet, I can only feel disgust. BioWare, is an amazing company. They have an amazing track record and are filled with amazing talent. A couple of weekends ago we gave away keys to unlock the Mass Effect demo early. It was our most visited post all month. Gamers were begging offering bribes. It’s astonishing to think that only a week later there would be a group of gamers also attacking that same company. Everyone knows that fighting on the internet is a losing battle. Both sides look bad, no one wins and it’s just a bundle of negativity. This is the only fault I can see in BioWare’s GM Aaryn Flynn and Jennifer Hepler. It’s awesome to see Flynn come to her defense, but at the same

Pre-order ‘Mass Effect 3′ on Origin, get ‘Battlefield 3′ free

We’ve seen this sort of thing before — when Battlefield 3 was prepping for release, all of a sudden EA’s Origin service offered a deal providing a copy of Dead Space 2 to anyone who pre-ordered the game using the service. Now, assuming you want it, Origin is making a similar deal — pre-order Mass Effect 3 and get Battlefield 3 for free. This is all assuming, of course, that you can stop playing the Mass Effect 3 demo that dropped yesterday. And that you actually want the game for PC, because this is an Origin-only deal. Does marketing a game with pre-order content like this make you more likely to buy it in advance?

‘Mass Effect 3′ demo lets anyone play multiplayer — Gold account or not

In case you haven’t heard, Mass Effect 3 has multiplayer. You can even watch a little bit of how that’s going to work out here. Oh, and there’s going to be a  demo for the game hitting on Valentine’s Day, for the ultimate battle of person love versus game love. (Let us know who wins.) Now, if you’re giving the game a try on Xbox 360, there’s one tiny, little niggling detail that might keep you from ultimate enjoyment — you’ve got to have a Gold account to truly enjoy the multiplayer part of that demo. Fortunately, Microsoft’s helping you out a little bit on that front! As posted in their forums yesterday, Microsoft has decided, “[i]n celebration of Mass Effect 3,” to allow everyone to have access to the multiplayer part of the game for the duration of the demo. According to the post, it does look as though

Meet the vocal talents of ‘Mass Effect 3′

It’s time to get up close and personal with the cast of BioWare’s Mass Effect 3. Not only are the usuals (Martin Sheen, Seth Green, Jennifer Hale, Keith David, et al.) back, but we get to see some new characters as well — voiced by Jessica Chobot and Freddie Prinze, Jr. It’s like they knew that I really wanted to watch She’s All That again or something. As a side note, this featurette is pretty awesome, and so is Jennifer Hale’s hair. Watch below:

New ‘Mass Effect 3′ trailer shows off multiplayer

“One way or another, this war ends today.” Today, we got a great look at Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer via a brand-new trailer both highlighting the mode and the races and classes you’ll be able to play. Not only that, but BioWare’s blog provided a great post, titled “So Your Friend Is a Vanguard,” to accompany the video. It goes over the sorts of steps you’ve got to take when it comes to playing with a friend who is a little more…overzealous when it comes to the multiplayer. But first, check out the trailer to get your first real peek at what looks like a ton of fun.

Mass Effect 3 demo drops on Valentines Day

Depending on the couple this could be awesome or it could be awkward. BioWare has announced that Mass Effect 3 demo will hit the various consoles on February 14, 2012. The demo will drop players right into the war with the Reapers and you’ll get to try out the co-op mode. Which means it can be shared by couples! Now that makes me happy. “We are excited to be able to give gamers an expansive demo that will put them right on the front lines of this all-out galactic war,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “The entire scale of the game is bigger than anything we’ve ever done. With its intense action, deep customization and raw emotional power, Mass Effect 3 will deliver a spectacular action RPG experience to fans of the series and newcomers alike.” Players will also get to try out the full
