Barnes and Noble announce free wifi and eReader app
Barnes and Noble have announced today that they will now offer complimentary wifi service in their stores provided by AT&T. This is one heck of a step in a good direction for them as this will be great for people who enjoy going to Barnes and Noble to relax and read. Along with this announcement, Barnes and Noble have also released their free eReader app for the iPhone/iPod touch, Blackberry, and PC/MAC. They also have an offer for some free books once you download the app. Their prices for books look to be comparable to what Amazon offers for books on the Kindle, so between the free application download and the prices it looks to be like a good value.

RIM changes up the BlackBerry for broader appeal
RIM has released the pink BlackBerry Pearl in an effort to help stimulate sales. For the first time, I really like the shade of pink that they have chosen for the Pearl. The phone is not just a simple phone though, it is packed with goodies. You can do email, watch television, take pictures and upload to Facebook. If I can access Twitter, I’m all set. In an effort to compete against the iPhone, it does offer alot of features for a much lower price. The phone comes with IM apps, of course a browser, and GPS. While I am still debating about raising enough money for an iPhone, this could be a cheaper alternative and I could get just as much out of it.
