There is nothing like a drinking related gadget to round off the Gadgets blog for this week of celebrations. (July 1st Canada Day, and July 4th Independence Day.) So why not combining some of our favorite things? A board game and drinking! For the look of the images, this is a well done game. The image descipition states that “The exterior design of the wood case was based on the enigma encrypting machine as well as the game´s name. The game also features a radar screen to mark the shots of each player and a list of the ships remaining.” The description also below explains how the game work. “It´s played just like the usual Battleship game with one addition. King.com Unveils 2 New Sponsored Games

This week, King.com has released two new sponsored games. The first, Spinmatch, combines tricky avoidance skills with moving color matching. Players control a wheel of spinning brightly colored octopi in an attempt to match up the same colors amongst other octopi moving across the screen at different speeds. My take: I like the challenge of the game and the new spinny concept. The music is quite fun – at first. As the difficulty level rose, the music got to me a little and I had to turn it down. I do think it’s worth a try for a quick break in the humdrum of a regular day. The second, Dynamic Systems, challenges players with the task of getting the little silver ball into the cup, armed with tools like iron bars, bounce boards, swinging hammers, gears and big wooden arches. It is a test of architectural eyes and deductive reasoning.

    Hasbro’s Clue gets a facelift

I have always felt that Clue was a bit timeless. Then again I grew up playing the game with various people and can even remember the movie. But sometimes even the best of board games needs a little bit of a makeover. Hasbro Inc, has updated Clue by including younger characters, more weapons, and added rooms to the house. The Professor has been axed, literally. Other characters are given more modern names such as Miss Scarlet is now Kasandra Scarlet, Mr. Green is now Jacob Green, Colonel Mustard is now Jack Mustard, and the professor is replaced by Victor Plum, a billionaire video game designer. Eleanor Peacock and Diane White are the last two characters. The characters now have special powers that assist them with finding out who the real culprit is. The weapons list has increased to include: candlestick, knife, rope, dumbbell, trophy or poison and others. We say goodbye
