COD MW3 soundtrack benefits vets
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 may be one of the top selling games of the year, but Activision is also making sure that they use some of that profit for good. If you are a fan, I would like to encourage you to purchase the COD MW3 soundtrack because all the proceeds will go to the Call of Duty Endowment. The non-profit is set up to help soldiers transition to civilian life. The benefit offers assistance in finding jobs and a career. The 20 track soundtrack is created by Brian Tyler. “I am so excited to be the composer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3,” said Brian Tyler. “I feel privileged to be able to contribute to the building of the Call of Duty Endowment. It is a true honor!” You can purchase the soundtrack at iTunes here or Amazon for $.99 a track.

Call of Duty and Disney Vets start new company Jupiter Moon
Who says guys can’t have a softer side? Industry Vets, Christopher Cherubini and David Chiapperino have created Jupiter Moon Studios. Christopher is from Activision/Infinity Ward as a Lead Artist for Call of Duty and the Modern Warfare series. David comes from Disney having worked on Pirates of the Caribbean and Toontown. They plan on creating their own IP. Jupiter Moon’s first title will be for the iOS. Bunny Popper will be released this December. Bunny Popper was created with accessibility in mind. Basically gameplay can be done with one finger. Don’t let the cute look fool you, these bunnies are evil! The premise of Bunny Popper is, “evil inflatable bunnies from outer space are invading a carrot farm. The carrots need you to stop the hoards of hares from taking them away!” Mom’s don’t have to worry about passing their iPad or iTouch device to their kids to play. Bunny

A day at Call of Duty XP
One thing Activision has learned from Blizzard is how to put on a great event focused entirely around one game. I attended one afternoon out of the two day Call of Duty XP. The event was in a hanger space that was massive. Even though the space was huge, Activision managed to take up the entire space. As you walk up to the hangar, you see the large Modern Warfare 3 image which is actually the cover for the game. The events outside were pretty amazing. First they had a real life Burger Town to order lunch from. The meals were pretty pricey though for a group of people that paid $150 to attend the con. A burger combination was $12. That didn’t seem to stop hungry gamers because Burger Town had lines the whole time. Also outside was a zip line. The lines were long, but it seemed like

Call of Duty XP gets rowdy with Dropkick Murphys
Activision has just added some punk to their Call of Duty XP event. Dropkick Murphys will be performing opening night at 8pm. Dropkick Murphys are amazing to see live and will be a huge plus to attending. The other day, Kanye West was confirmed to be performing at closing. “With an unbeatable lineup of real-world and in-game experiences, Call of Duty XP was already poised to be an historic event for fans of the franchise,” said Eric Hirshberg, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Publishing. “The addition of Dropkick Murphys just makes XP that much more memorable. Few bands fit the bill better—we’re thrilled to have them performing on opening day.” If you attend the conference and the opening night show, probably want to bring some good shoes. There will probably be stomping and some good old mosh pits that break out.

Take a closer look at ‘Rezurrection’
Yep, more zombie levels are still coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops. In “Rezurrection,” we get what developers refer to as a “season finale” for the whole zombie…thing. Maps are the same as previously listed, meaning that you get several remastered Zombies maps with “Moon,” a new addition. Here’s a trailer…it’s a bit undead.

‘Annihilation’ arrives on PC and PS3 later this month
Yay for PS3 and PC Black Ops players! The Xbox 360 exclusivity period for the Annihilation content pack is apparently up on July 28, exactly one month after the original release. No changes for this version, it’s all the same as originally reported. The maps include a drive-in movie theater, a golf course and a Shangri-La Zombies map. Ah, zombies in paradise.

EA plays another practical joke on Activision
Well EA is still taking on Activision and this has got to be one of the better business practical jokes ever. It seems that if users go to www.modernwarfare3.com it actually goes to a Battlefield 3 site. This is the official site for Battlefield 3 and yes, you can watch the url update to reflect that when you visit. No cross marketing once you get to the site. Have to love watching these two Goliaths go at each other.

Call of Duty XP is the full experience for anyone who loves ‘Call of Duty’
Activision announced yesterday that Call of Duty XP 2011, a “celebration” of all things CoD, will take place this Labor Day weekend in Los Angeles. And hey, no children are allowed, so you can have adults screaming obscenities and slurs at you, instead! Yay! It’ll probably be a nice change of pace. On hand will be will be demos for Modern Warfare 3, a full look at Call of Duty Elite (you know, that thing you don’t want to pay for) and even a $1 million Call of Duty tournament sponsored by Activision and Xbox 360. For the latter, you can qualify before the tournament or at a select on-site qualification. If you just want to watch, that will be available on TV — probably for a price, much like BlizzCon. More activities include: Tournaments and prizes for the hardcore and casual fan alike Discussion panels and Q&A with Call
