Capcom announced just this afternoon that Resident Evil 6 development is in full swing — and they’ve already picked a release date, to boot! On November 20 of this year, the game will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3, with a PC version to follow. Here’s Capcom’s summary:

It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

Leon and Chris must work together to face the bioterrorists. Well, obviously. If they at all intend to save the world.

“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” said Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”

Capcom has already shared a trailer with the world, at the very least. Watch it below:

This trailer from Capcom for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City shows off a completely new dynamic, though — the hate triangle.

See, the Umbrella Security Service team is working against the zombies and US Spec Ops. US Spec Ops is working against USS and the zombies. And the zombies just hate/want to eat everyone, ever. It’s kind of their thing.

It’s what Capcom’s calling a “Triple Threat” — nice word choice given that we’re looking at the T-virus.

Here’s (almost) six minutes of zombie-killin’ action. (Note: Don’t watch this if you don’t want to hear swearing and see some bloody messes.) Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be released March 20.

How heavy? Well, it’s just a bunch of the girls fighting. I’m not entirely sure if it’s supposed to be playful or not at this point. Take a look:

The Xbox 360 collection will include:

1942: Joint Strike

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2

Final Fight: Double Impact

Flock!

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, including the Rocketmen: It Came From Uranus expansion

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Wolf of the Battlefield

All games are rated E to Teen, and if you were already interested in all of these, it’s probably a pretty good deal. Otherwise…well, if you only wanted one or two, you’re probably better off downloading them. You’ll save the cash and a trip to the store.

Electronic Art’s Origin service is expanding to include titles outside of EA publishing. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, THQ and Capcom Entertainment, Inc will be hosting some of their PC titles on the Origin service. Starting in November Batman: Arkham City, Saints Row: The Third and other titles will be available.

“Since launch, we’ve had overwhelming support from both publishers and developers across the gaming industry, recognizing Origin as an opportunity to deliver more of their great content straight to consumers across the globe,” said David DeMartini, senior vice president of Origin at EA. “We’re excited to welcome Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, THQ and Capcom as the first publishers to offer their games via Origin.”

“When we met with the EA team and discussed their long-term vision for Origin, we were excited to lend our weight to their efforts,” said Christian Svensson, senior vice president at Capcom Entertainment. “We hope to expand our PC fanbase for our legendary brands on Origin.”

Looks like Origin is looking to make it’s mark in becoming a service that PC gamers use to purchase new and upcoming games.

The Devil May Cry series began in 2001, and this repackaging not only allows for better graphics, but also the addition of bonus content and Trophies/Achievements. You can finally show off your S-rankings with an Achievement. (Probably.)

Today at New York Comic-Con, Capcom let a bunch of Street Fighter X Tekken information out of the bag — including the release date. The game will launch on March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe, and there’s going to be a Special Edition (of course).

That Special Edition includes:

Total of 45 Gems When You Pre-Order

Wait, what are these “Gems”? They’re the new character power-up system! With them you modify character stats. Watch this trailer if you want to understand a little more:

Set in an ancient world with a very anime-esque design, the game chronicles the story of Asura. Once a powerful deity, he was betrayed and stripped of his powers by the other gods. Filled with anger over the betrayal, he swears revenge and to resuce his daughter from the seven gods who usurped his own. And the only way he is able to fight back after losing his godly powers is by using his rage.

It reminded me a lot of God of War. Once powerful, loses power and swears revenge? Check. Very angry over his situation? Check. Shirtless? Check. Is all of this necessarily a bad thing? Not really. The basic story hearkens back to that of Kratos’s, however that kind of tale can be found in several heroic stories from various cultures.

Gameplay wise, it went smoothly once I became familiar with the controls. They are similar to those of God of War in the sense that you’re given button prompts, but that’s about it for similarities. And the boss I had to face? Pretty big bordering on epic. Not only did I have to fight him through several stages, but in the last stage he grows to a size that dwarfs the planet that Asura is on and turns into a god that reminded me of Hindu gods.

All in all the game has some promise but I would want to see more of it before making a final decision.

Japan’s getting another 3DS color — Ice White — on November 3. Okay, it’s not all white. That nice black contrast is nice, though.

This is the system variant you’ll get with a spiffy Monster Hunter Tri G pack, which will be available in Japan starting December 10. That version’s a little different though, since it’ll come with special decorations all over. (See that here.)

Capcom will also release a Tri G bundle with the game and an Expansion Slide Pad for ¥6,990 (or about $90). I don’t think U.S. prices will be quite as high as the conversions, though, so that’s good if you’ve got to get your hands on one of these.
