PAX First Look: Asura’s Wrath
I had not heard much about this game before seeing it on the floor at PAX, however it initially sounded interesting. Set in an ancient world with a very anime-esque design, the game chronicles the story of Asura. Once a powerful deity, he was betrayed and stripped of his powers by the other gods. Filled with anger over the betrayal, he swears revenge and to resuce his daughter from the seven gods who usurped his own. And the only way he is able to fight back after losing his godly powers is by using his rage. It reminded me a lot of God of War. Once powerful, loses power and swears revenge? Check. Very angry over his situation? Check. Shirtless? Check. Is all of this necessarily a bad thing? Not really. The basic story hearkens back to that of Kratos’s, however that kind of tale can be found in several

‘Ice White’ 3DS is on the way
Japan’s getting another 3DS color — Ice White — on November 3. Okay, it’s not all white. That nice black contrast is nice, though. This is the system variant you’ll get with a spiffy Monster Hunter Tri G pack, which will be available in Japan starting December 10. That version’s a little different though, since it’ll come with special decorations all over. (See that here.) Capcom will also release a Tri G bundle with the game and an Expansion Slide Pad for ¥6,990 (or about $90). I don’t think U.S. prices will be quite as high as the conversions, though, so that’s good if you’ve got to get your hands on one of these.

It brings Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield working with new BSAA members to investigate Veltro and the T-Abyss virus.

Two new ‘Street Fighter X Tekken’ trailers are in shreds
My headline’s not really kidding. These two trailers show off pictures of characters that have been completely shredded. Take a look below. However, if you need a little hilarity, check out “Ono X Harada.” The two fighting game masters truly go head-to-head in the best of ways.

Don’t remember Frank West? That’s okay, he’s back to remind you of a few things
All anyone ever wants to talk about is what happened in Willamette. But, uh, Frank…you had to fight off a zombie horde. Doesn’t that seem the least bit impressive to you? I mean, most people wouldn’t dream of being in such a situation, but you survived. (Unless we’re talking about my playthrough of Dead Rising, in which case Frank died many, many deaths.) In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Frank West is back to tackle the story over again from his own angle. But in case you don’t remember him, there’s a brand-new recap video to get you caught up. Just…don’t forget that the man’s covered wars, okay?

Weekly Roundup Episode 16
It’s SDCC week, so we’re joined by fellow Angel Evy and we also get a recorded rundown of what Trina’s been up to so far at the show. Later, we talk about Capcom, Gameloft’s poor working conditions, unnecessary Xbox refreshes, Origin pre-order strangeness, and…I admit an addiction to Tiny Tower, because I am clearly a horrible person. Here’s the show (and you can subscribe on iTunes, or just download the mp3):

Capcom to rerelease ‘Marvel vs. Capcom 3′ this November
Hot on the tails of canceling Mega Man Legends 3, Capcom announced yesterday that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be hitting shelves this November. So, they’ve canceled one game that people wanted and replaced it with a rerelease of a game that came out in February, all in one week. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 adds 12 more characters and changes the balance a little bit, and online play also includes a spectator mode. It will also launch at a reduced price point, $39.99. Are you willing to shell out again for a slightly-improved game? Especially when that game was released in the same year?

‘Mega Man’ fans are really, really sad about this cancellation
On one hand, I definitely understand it. Capcom had sort of turned this into a community project and people were really, really into it. (On the other, I personally have zero stake in Mega Man anything.) So there’s no surprise on my end about the outpouring of…well, whatever feelings these represent. Apparently a lot of people will really miss Tron Bonne, too. Click through the gallery to see some responses to the news. (All images via Reddit and the Capcom forums…if you made one, let me know. They’re being reposted in several places, so it’s impossible to know whose they are.)

‘Mega Man Legends 3′ meets the axe
Things hadn’t been going well for Mega Man Legends 3. It lost its creator (in that the guy just completely left the company), and we just…hadn’t heard anything about it in a while. But the final nail in the coffin was added last night, with Capcom’s “GregaMan” writing that, “We’d like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.” Apparently it never ended up meeting whatever kind of “criteria” the company has set up to determine the They’ve even got a whole Q&A set up, but I don’t recommend that you read it unless you like to be very depressed. The Internet outrage has begun, by the way. Capcom’s user-submitted photo gallery’s got some interesting additions:
