Monaco Takes Home $20,000 Independent Games Festival Prize

Pocketwatch Games’ Monaco got the really big prizes at the Twelfth Annual Independent Games Festival, hosted at GDC this week. The title received the $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game, as well as the award for Excellence in Design. Both fairly big deals.

Other award recipients for the year include PLAYDEAD’s LIMBO (Excellence in Visual Art and Technical Excellence), and Closure Team’s Closure (Excellence in Audio).

Previous winners include a lot of titles we’ve come to know and love: Braid, Audiosurf, Castle Crashers, and World of Goo. Out of 301 entries, they had to be narrowed down by 170 judges, so the winners this year will likely show up as downloadable games on our consoles and computers at some point.

Hey everyone! Today we happily announce all the winners from our Left4Dead & Castle Crashers Community Night winners. We had so many great names submitted for prizes, but only so many prizes to go around. Before we announce the winners, let me explain how we picked them. First, after all the names were gather from both the participating GamingAngels and Gamer Beauties, we gave each gamertag a number. Then, using Random.org, I generated 4 numbers. If one number showed up twice, we generated a new number.

Quest for Knights Onrush for iPhone

Fight knights, swordsmen, wizards and ballistas, take advantage of the leveling system, do your best to fight as far as you can. Go and kill them all.

This is a promo game made based on Knights Onrush characters and graphics – it’s free and fully functional. However, this is a spin-off of the original game. It has different gameplay. Think Zombieville with knights and swords on steroids, or Castle Crashers. You control one character and your mission is to force through hordes of enemies using your sword.

The premium version will include:

- Multiple levels with different backgrounds and enemies.
- More enemies, objects, abilities.
- 3 different heroes to choose from, each with unique abilities and leveling system.
- Better AI.
- Bosses.
- Online scores.

Behemoth Community event to celebrate 1 year

GoW 2 Community Night Winners Announced

Hey everyone! The day and prizes are finally here, so I can happily announce all the winners from our Gears of War 2 Community Night winners. We had so many great names submitted for prizes – more than double the amount of prizes we have. Before I announce the winners, let me explain how I picked them. First, after all the names were gather from both the participating GamingAngels and the Gamer Beauties, I gave each gamertag a number. Then, using Random.org, I generated 24 (the number of prizes we have!) numbers. If one number showed up twice, I generated a new number. HOWEVER, if a name got submitted to the list twice because you played with different GA or GB girls throughout the night, and both of the numbers I assigned you showed up on the list, then you’ll be up for two prizes! We love it when people keep playing with us throughout a community night, and if you get nominated twice – it means we enjoyed playing with you!

We’ve got some great prizes: a dozen COG Tags, a trucker hat, 2 ladies tshirts, and some snowblind, hammerburst and lancer codes. Since I know many of you might already have tags, shirts or codes, I want to try and accomadate the prize and winner matches as best I can. So, pay attention to the next bit on how to claim your prize if you want to win something you don’t already have.

In order to claim your prize, please email me at cherith@gamingangels.com. When you email me, please let me know if you already have one of the prizes listed, but please do not request specific prizes. I’ve already matched prizes to winners, but I’m willing to adjust if possible if you already have one of the game codes. Also, since the two shirts we have are ladies shirts (size small), I will allow specific requests for those shirts so they go to someone who might wear them. Once I get you’re email, I’ll let you know what prize you’ve won, and what if any other information I need to make sure you receive it.

Don’t wake the Witch!

If you aren’t able to join us for our Gears of War 2 night, don’t panic! You can join us on August 2nd as we host a double-header: Left4Dead and Castle Crashers! We’ll start up at 6pm Eastern with Left4Dead, which will continue to run for most of the night. Castle Crashers will start a little later on, at 7pm Pacific.

GamingAngels has lots of goodies to give away from our Box of Goodness. So please join us and the ladies from GamerBeauties as we host multiplayer rooms for both of these great games.
