    Nothing says love like Electronics

I’ve always enjoyed receiving gadgets over diamonds, but now that concept is a bit more official. According to a new study from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), Women in CE, electronics are the “desired purchase”. In the study, eight in ten women wanted Consumer Electronics, an increase of 10% from the previous study. Women spend about $667 on CE products in the past 12 months. Which is slightly less than men who spend $728. “This Valentine’s Day, the way to a women’s heart just might be through electronics,” said Jessica Boothe, manager of strategic research, CEA, who oversaw this study. “Women want technology more than ever and they view electronics as very personal devices that can be toted around and customized with private information.” But men, be wary when shopping. Be excited that you should now buy the woman in your life an electronic, but you might want to make

Samsung improves how you do laundry at CES

I thought I loved doing laundry. But now after the announcement that Samsung made at CES, doing laundry just isn’t going to be the same. Since College I have been frantically looking for quarters in order to clean my clothes. I remember having to go to banks, grocery stores, even knocking on friends’ doors to get quarters. Then you had to compete to even find an open laundry space. Forget doing laundry on Sundays. In my apartment, things did not get better. I still needed quarters (but more now) and it was still a fight for resources. Each load had to be taken outside and down the stairs into the garage. Rain or shine, one load at a time because that’s all I could carry. When we bought my house the first thing I went to check out was the laundry situation. I fell in love. The laundry has it’s

Sony talks gadgets at CES 2012

Sony kicked off CES 2012 with a celeb filled event. Sony was all about the PS Vita when earlier today AT&T confirmed pricing for the Vita’s 3G SKU, with subscription-free data plans starting at $15 a month. Sony spoke about an “integrated world”. In this world all devices can connect and have unlimited video and music. All because the information is in the Cloud. Then Kaz announces that Music Unlimited and Netflix will be available on the PS Vita. He announced Play Memories Online, a way to photos and videos to the cloud. Cellphones and Bloggie Live will connect through wifi to this service. I love the specs on the Bloggie Live. It makes covering events so easy! It has built in WiFi, films in 1080p and can livestream to Facebook, Twitter and Youtube using Qik. The livestreams are limited to 480×270. The pure amount of content you could create

    Microsoft’s last CES presser

Microsoft held their last CES Press Conference tonight. I’ve attended three past Microsoft press events at CES and know that usually they are a star attended affair. Generally not that focused on gaming, but talking about phones, software and any new hardware. Tonight’s event opened with a musical intro remix that showcased the last 15 years of Microsoft CES pressers. It was created by Pogo and amazing! I hope they do it again at an E3. Bill Gates is no longer doing the CES pressers so Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer took the helm. He stated tonight that the Xbox 360 video game console has sold more than 66 million units since it was launched in 2005. He also stated that Microsoft has sold more than 18 million Kinect motion-sensing systems. Joining him on stage was Ryan Seacrest. Why? No idea, but the comments on Twitter was that because Steve

Greenpeace gives out their best of CES 2010 awards

You might think that CES is all about the glitter and glam of gadgets. Factors like thinness, size, brightness of the screen are all important to the mass of reporters that attend the Consumer Electronics Show ever year. But one group is looking past all that. Greenpeace looks at what companies are doing and how they are introducing products free of hazardous substances. Something many of us that love gadgets don’t think about, but probably should. Greenpeace’s Guide from the CES show had Apple, Sony Ericsson and Nokia leading the way with HP following the list. Hewlett-Packard was targeted last year and this year has come back with the HP Compaq 8000f Elite Ultra Slim Desktop PC, earning Greenpeace’s “Best in Show” award. When there is a best, there’s always a worst. The winner of the worst award this year is Samsung. They still use toxic chemicals in its products.
