The video says it all, really. “Four amazing indie games in the most crossplatformish bundle we’ve ever done.”

The Humble Bundle, which started out offering PC, Mac and Linux games, is expanding to Android in their latest bundle deal, which starts today and ends in two weeks.

The pay-what-you-want bundle features three games in its main bundle package — Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Osmos and EDGE.

However, pay more than the average bundle price (at the very beginning of the sale, that was $7.07), and you’ll unlock the fun physics game World of Goo for your Android device.

But hey — even if you don’t have an Android tablet, phone or anything else using Google’s OS, you can still get in on this bundle. In addition to receiving the games for Android, you’ll also get them for PC, Mac and Linux. Four platforms for play, four games, your price. Still cool, as usual.

Also as usual for the Humble Bundle folks, you’ll be able to allocate some of your purchase to charity — this time, Child’s Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, two classic Humble Bundle choices. You can also allocate some of that cash to the Humble Bundle creators in a Humble Tip. Remember, they’ve got to keep the website going somehow.

Here’s a video showing off everything included in this bundle.

2011′s Child Play donation totals are over $1.5 million after the community helped raise $351,000 at the annual Child’s Play Gala and Auction.

What kinds of items were up for grabs at this year’s auction? A life-size Gravity Gun (you know, like the one from Half-Life) went for $21,000, while a copy of Nintendo World Championships (AKA one of the rarest games in the world) went for $11,500. Someone even won a guest spot in a Penny Arcade strip. I’m officially jealous of these people.

“The gala and auction always brings in a lot of donations, but it is just one part of Child’s Play,” said Jamie Dillion of Child’s Play Charity. “The real heroes are all the gamers who organize local events and send in individual donations that account for the vast majority of what we raise every year. We couldn’t do this without all of their support.”

The year isn’t over, so you can still donate at Child’s Play’s website. At the moment, they’re dangerously close to hitting that $2 million mark, so help them out!

Everyone’s favorite pack of pay-what-you-want games for charity, the Humble Indie Bundle, is back.

This time, five DRM-free titles are on deck — Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, Hammerfight and And Yet It Moves.

Packaged separately, these would go for over $50, but here, the average donation is currently down to $4.23 (seriously, people?), with Linux users paying the most on average. (All of these games are available to play on Windows, OS X and Linux, by the way.)

As usual, you can split up your donation amongst the developers themselves, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Child’s Play and Wolfire (since they do have to pay to host everything).

Here’s a trailer for the latest iteration.

Try not to think of this.

Several notable events contributed to the final total, including the Humble Indie Bundle ($300,000), the annual Desert Bus for Hope fundraiser ($207,000) and Gears of War’s “The Fate of Carmine” campaign ($150,000).

This brings the organization’s final total to $8,998,564.

“Just because we’ve surpassed our goal this year doesn’t mean we’re going to slow down, in fact we are planning to expand so we can help even more children next year,” said Kristin Lindsay, Foundation Coordinator, Child’s Play.

Hospital wish lists are still available at Amazon and remain ripe for fulfillment. The organization is also still accepting donations via PayPal.

I know you probably thought we were all finished with holiday guides, but I’m here to bring you one more for 2010. [...]

I know you probably thought we were all finished with holiday guides, but I’m here to bring you one more for 2010. Today’s guide is all about last minute gifts, for those times when you realize right before the holiday that you’ve either left someone off your list, or you’ve been invited to a party that is participating in a gift exchange. I know a lot of offices participate in some sort of white elephant gift exchange during Christmas parties, and sometimes it’s hard to figure out what gifts to bring along. So, along with the rest of the staff here at GamingAngels, I’m going to give you some ideas of things you can grab to make sure you don’t show up empty-handed.

Pretty much everyone on the GamingAngels staff recommended some kind of gift card. There’s a wide variety of options to choose from, and if you’re looking for something quick and easy, gift cards are your best bet. The good news is that instead of the standard store card, there’s way more options for your monetary card purchase these days.

If you have friends that are into Facebook games, chances are if you walk into any convenience store, Target or Wal-Mart these days, you’re going to be able to find a points card for specific games: most especially those Zynga games like Frontierville or Mafia Wars.

For those artsy friends or family members on your list, you might try grabbing a Michael’s or JoAnn’s gift card which allow those creative types to buy supplies that they’ll be able to put to good use.

However, if you’ve got a little more time to plan, and want to give something a little more unique than a gift card, we’ve got some options for you there also.

My personal favorite would be to grab one of the plush microbes from ThinkGeek.com. There’s a wide variety of options, and you’re bound to find something that your recipient will enjoy. My recommendation would be to grab the one for the common cold. It is winter here in the States after all and cold/flu season. It’s the perfect way to give your friends the cold without making them miss work. The giant plush microbes are fluffy and cute and less than $10, making it a great gift.

Check out the Fawkes & Codex poster! The gamer on your list will know who the people on this poster are. The poster is magic and brings good luck to all who hang it on their wall. Oh, and all proceeds go to Child’s Play to help out needy kids, which makes it a double-present.

And talking about Think Geek, they’ve got quite a few things that might be great for the geeks and gamers on your list. Check out the Cable Monkey Organizer. This cute little guy will help organize that mess of cords at the back of your computer or TV. He is reusable which is way better than using those messy white ties.

Just in case, let’s also add something edible, like Caffeinated Hot Coco. How can this not be a wonderful last minute idea? Caffeine in something that I could say defines the Holidays. This little pick me up comes in three flavors: Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice and Dutch Chocolate.

If your recipient likes to keep a clean home, you might try a more practical gift like the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner. It’s a little pricier, but a good gift for that busy home owner on your list. Of course, if you’ve got the money to spend and want to give something that might make a bigger impact on your recipient, you might want to try out something like the BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner with Deep Reach Technology which makes a great gift for those pet owners on your list. Bissel’s Spot Bot Pet does a number of little jobs all at once. It is designed for cleaning up small messes or spills. It is a combination of brushes, a wet application of cleaning solution, and then a vacuuming action.

Lastly, if you want to grab a game, you can’t go wrong by grabbing the Collector’s Edition of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. The Collector’s Edition has the cool Jack-in-the-Box Doctor. The game is fantastic, and worth grabbing for the gamer on your list. And if you’re going to be home during the holidays, it doesn’t hurt to grab yourself a copy too, then you can play multiplayer challenges with your friends.

Hopefully, we’ve given you a few ideas for items to grab as you prepare for that last minute dash to grab gifts this holiday season.

The Humble Indie Bundle features five games – Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos and Revenge of the Titans – that would normally cost $85 – If you bought them all separately, anyway.

Today, however, that’s not the case. Today (and until the bundle ends) – you’re setting the price. Which could be nothing. You could pick $5, or $10. Some people out there have ponied up over $200.

Why spend more than they’re worth? On the website, you get to make a choice that explains this behavior. So, do you want all of your money to go directly to the developers? You can also opt to send all of it to charity – this time, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child’s Play. Or, you can choose to make a “Humble Tip” and give money to the people running the bundle site.

It’s your choice, and you can divvy up the funds any way you like with the fun sliders on the page.

The games come in Mac, PC and Linux flavors, so they work with almost any computer out there. There’s no DRM and no time limit, so back them up willy-nilly.

If you want to purchase the Humble Indie Bundle, visit http://www.humblebundle.com/.

If you are ever in the market for a model Portal Gun, looks like we’ve got an approximate price for you – [...]

If you are ever in the market for a model Portal Gun, looks like we’ve got an approximate price for you – over $14,000. That’s how much a replica of the game weapon sold for at this week’s Child’s Play Gala and Auction, an annual event to raise money for the titular charity, which provides toys and games for hospitalized children both in the U.S. and around the world.

“Every year we are blown away by the fantastic items and incredibly generous bids at the gala and auction,” said Kristin Lindsay, Foundation Coordinator for Child’s Play. “Even more heart warming is the thousands of gamers that can’t attend the gala but organize their own local fundraising. It’s this grassroots community activity the accounts for the majority of Child’s Play donations.”

The Portal Gun wasn’t the only thing up for bid. PAX 2010′s Omegaclaw was also on the auction block, as was a Valve mega collection with a lifetime Steam code and a one-day internship at Penny Arcade, the webcomic-turned-goliath that is responsible for Child’s Play’s creation.

Overall, the gala raised $183,000. Desert Bus for Hope also presented a check for $207,000 at the event. So far this year, Child’s Play has raised over $1.1 million, and that’s quite impressive. If you donated, our hats are off to you.

Ümloud 2010 is a Rock Band night designed to benefit Child’s Play, a charity started by Penny Arcade’s founders that provides games and other fun items to children’s hospitals across the United States.

This year’s event, led by Chris Kohler (Wired.com), Joe Markert (Gamehelper) and John “Seg” Seggerson (Telltale Games), will take place at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco on December 9, 2010. The venue will be outfitted with a full Rock Band stage with all the latest Rock Band 3 gear, not to mention a giant set list to choose from, all thanks to Harmonix. A $10 fee is charged for entry to the 18+ venue.

A silent auction and raffle will also take place at the event, and the full list of prizes will be available on the official site, www.umloud.org, soon. The website also gives a few more details – including the fact that if you want a reserved play time on the big stage, you’ll need to drop the bucks for an Ultimate Band pass (not on sale yet).

You can also win a chance to be a Headliner Band. The website provides the full details:

In the month of ROCKTOBER, we’ll be auctioning off one (1) “Headliner Band” package. Win this auction, and you’ll be the stars of Ümloud. You’ll play a two-song set list. We’ll make you a killer introductory video. Ümloud’s designers will create your very own logo and a Fillmore-style band poster. And more to be announced, all for one very special band that proves how special they are by giving us the most money. Watch this space.

“This year, we’re upping our game to ensure Ümloud! is bigger, better, and more importantly, louder than ever before,” said Ümloud! co-founder Chris Kohler. “There’s never been a better reason to get together with your friends and play Rock Band.”

I’m inclined to agree.

There is nothing like the power of social media. We have seen its power in motion, from when we did Gamers for Haiti, Child’s Play and other events. Twestival is another events that uses the power of social media in order to connect others for a very good cause. The main focus of the 2010 Twestival will be education and all funds raised will be donated to Concern Worldwide, a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization.

Of course the question is, how doesit all work? Well, there are two types of events; online and offline. The offline events are events that are taking place in different places all over the world. Each event is run by volunteers. In order to find out which event is happening near you, you can check the Twestival twitter feed or if you wish to register an event or school, head over to the website. If there isn’t an event near you and you wish to get involved, then you can make a donation via Paypal, or you can make a donation through Twestival FM and be able to download some music from artists in return for your help.

For more information, or to donate head over to the website.
