Guest Review: Bone By Jeff Smith

Writer & Artist: Jeff Smith Release Date: 1991 – 2004 GA Amazon Link If you are a comic book fan you more than likely have heard of Bone by Jeff Smith. Bone is one of those graphic novels that have a lot of hype behind it. I was a bit nervous about reading it because I thought I would be disappointed after it being so hyped up. I am happy to say that Bone lives up to the hype and then some. The story revolves around the Bone cousins; Phoney, Fone and Smiley. What exactly are Bones? Well, that’s never really explained. However, they are looked at as more as funny looking foreigners than aliens. At the start of the book the cousins find themselves stranded in a vast desert thanks to Phoney Bone who got three of them run out of their hometown Boneville with one of his scams.

    Review: Resurrection Issue #5

Writer: Marc Guggenheim Art: Justin Greenwood Colors: Dan Jackson. The story begins with a hostile alien invasion which forces the earth’s inhabitants to seek shelter underground – or on the run – where they survive for almost 10 years. When the alien battle heard outside suddenly ceases, people begin re-emerging into what is left of the world: a barren wasteland, the remnants of civilization obliterated and rendered alien after so many years of occupation by a race of “bugs”. After the departure of the bugs from the world, the survivors discover new antagonists. Our now dwindled group of characters find their latest fears manifesting not only in the form of road agents: they can also be their own worst enemies. They also come to realise that the long forgotten government of the Old America has been made obsolete, with a sinister new form looming in the destroyed capital, Washington D.C.

San Diego Comic Con 2010 already selling out

I don’t know really what to think about this. San Diego Comic Con is already close to selling out it’s four day passes. Last month, SDCC sold out of the four day passes with preview night and now have 25% left of regular four day passes. This year is my eleventh year attending San Diego Comic Con and to say it has grown is an understatement. The crowds get bigger and bigger and it appears that SDCC has had to learn to cap it’s audience. Probably due to safety violations. It’s almost shocking to think of four day passes selling out eight months in advance of the convention. Hotels are typically listed in February or March. People could be buying a ticket to attend and have no idea if they will actually obtain a hotel room when that time comes. If you want to make sure you get a pass
