What you might not have known is that your first peek at the XBLA build of the game is a lot closer than you think.

The Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game will be playable for the first time at Mojang’s MineCon event, taking place November 18-19 in Las Vegas. This event is not only a convention, but also the official launch of the PC version of the game.

Microsoft has stepped up as a sponsor of the event — kind of a big deal.

Not-so-live this week, since there’s so much traveling going on in our ranks. Except for me, because I never go anywhere, apparently. Instead of a question, Elizabeth talks GenCon, since she was kind of right there at the time. (On that note, apologies for the somewhat subpar audio quality.) Then it’s on to what we’ve been playing and the news (PS Vita’s 2012 release, new stats on in-game purchasing habits and Diablo III’s real money auctions included). I may or may not still have a Tiny Tower problem that is the subject of much ridicule, most of which is my own.

Also, listen to find out how you can win a copy of RIFT. You know you want it.

If you were a part of the mad dash to get Blizzcon tickets this year, you’ll know that Blizzard set up two dates to sell their stock. That last day was today, and with ticket sales starting at 10AM PST, they were completely gone 27 minutes later, with about 27,500+ people still left in queue. Some eBay scalpers are already listing Buy-It-Now prices of $800 each and above for the originally $150 per person tickets.

Blizzcon draws thousands of people to Anaheim, California every year, where players of games set in the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo universes converge and become some of the first to hear about news and changes about their favorite games. The convention is so popular that they now Pay-Per-View the event on DirectTV.

This year the two-day event will be October 22 and 23 at the Anaheim Convention Center, and features the standard Developer Q&A, player/developer meet-and-greets, hands-on gameplay before anyone else and tournaments (both casual and competitive). It’s also a popular place to meet other players you’ve come across online. Actor and comedian Jay Mohr will be hosting the event for his third year in a row, due to popular demand.

If you were able to score a ticket, I will try to be happy for you. If not, I’m hosting a support group in my basement with a donation jar for the Pay-Per-View.

It was announced that the Tokyo Game Show will take place from September 16-19 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Tokyo. The CESA is focusing this year on drawing in more attendees from Asia by having a special forum dedicated to the Asian gaming industry. They also have said that they plan on teaming up with travel agencies to try and attract more people from Asian markets.

Now we already had a bit of an idea that the convention was going to take place around this time, however it wasn’t clear if they were going to have a three or four day convention. It will be interesting to see how the focus on the Asian gaming industry will fare with the show as a whole, and also if the attendence numbers will pick up from last year. If you plan on going may want to start saving now!
