    GamingAngels Comic Pulls

Welcome to a brand new series on GamingAngels, Comic Pulls. Right after College, I was working hard, for not very much money. But with the money I had, I found entertainment in comics. As GamingAngels, started and grew, I had less and less time to read comics. I bought less and then at some point stopped going to the comic book store altogether. Every now and then, I would hear about a storyline and want to check it out, but I didn’t even have my own store to go to. That is changing now. I’ve decided that I want to enjoy comics again. I want to dive into the worlds and find new artists and writers that I love. With that, I am starting this article. It’s not actually scheduled for a Wednesday because this article will highlight what I ended up picking up Wednesday from my local comic book

“DC Universe Online” goes Harley Quinn crazy for the holidays

Today, Sony Online Entertainment chose to show off a ton of new Harley Quinn images from DC Universe Online. The semi-masked, Joker-smitten hooligan is a relatively new entry to the Batman storyline, and she will, of course, be available to the more villainous among us who happen to be playing DCUO. (I might choose this route for her alone – I was a big fan as a kid while watching Batman: The Animated Series, where she got her start, and that love was rekindled while playing Arkham Asylum.) Below, we’ve got an entire gallery of art featuring Ms. Quinzel. DCUO releases for PS3 and PC on January 11, 2011.

The Best Costume Ideas for a Geeky Halloween

In Sex and the City, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) said that the only two Halloween costume options women have are “witch” and “sexy kitten.” Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker)’s response? “You just said a mouthful there, sister.” Luckily, we’re not so limited these days. Women (and men) have costume options covering pretty much every genre – and a few of these can get rather geeky. Your only limitation is your imagination (and possibly a few public decency laws dictated by common sense and an appreciation of the clothed body). Here are a few categories you can choose from – they’re just starters, obviously, but Milanoo has costumes for every kind of geek. (Don’t worry if your hair’s not purple or spiky – their cosplay wig section has you covered.) RPG Style A ton of costumes are out there for the JRPG fanatic – especially if you like Square Enix’s Final Fantasy and

The official sequel for “Batman: Arkham Asylum” is “Batman: Arkham City”

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, along with DC Entertainment, announced today that Batman: Arkham City will be the sequel to its incredibly awesome Batman title, Batman: Arkham Asylum. The title is expected to ship for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in Fall 2011. Arkham City comes from the same developer as Asylum, Rocksteady Studios, and has you playing in the latest maximum security facility for Gotham’s thugs and baddies – a sprawling “city” in the heart of Gotham itself. So, we’ve got a brand-new story, with some of the same crazy characters, and quite a few new ones to boot. They also claim that they’ve improved the gameplay experience. (What I’m wondering is how that works, since the original was pretty high on the excellence scale.) If you want more information, go to www.batmanarkhamcity.com. There, you can sign up for updates on the game’s progress. Here’s a trailer for the game, first

“DC Universe Online” reveals a star-studded vocal cast

Sony announced an impressive list of voice actors for DC Universe Online today, including some pretty well-known talent. Mark Hamill (who you might know as Luke Skywalker) will once again reprise his role as The Joker, and Kevin Conroy will play his adversary, Batman, just like they’ve done in previous projects like Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Conroy has portrayed Batman for longer than any other actor, live-action or animated. The rest of the main cast includes Adam Baldwin (Superman), Gina Torres (Wonder Woman), James Marsters (Lex Luthor) and Michelle Forbes (Circe). The PC and PS3 MMO is expected to ship November 2. For more information, go to www.dcuniverseonline.com.

DC comics are coming to Playstation Network

Getting your comic fix just got easier. In my case, it means catching up on old comics just got easier. Sony has announced that Playstation Network will now carry digital comics for DC titles. Can’t wait to get caught up on Fables! “Outside of my work as a comic book creator and Co-Publisher, I’m an avid gamer,” said Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher. “Making our comics available through Sony’s PlayStation Network digital comics offers a perfect opportunity for us to reach a new, different kind of reader.” Comics can be downloaded using any wi-fi spot with the PSP. Warner teaming up with Mattel to pimp Green Lantern

Do you like Green Lantern? I have to admit that I actually don’t know much about the story behind Hal and the Green Lantern Corps. Soon we’ll be seeing Green Lantern everywhere as Warner teams up with Mattel for a licensing program to work toward the summer 2011 release of Green Lantern from Warner Bros. Pictures. “The sheer volume of the DC Comics property portfolio lends itself to an incredible array of consumer offerings,” said Brad Globe, president, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “As master licensee, Mattel has consistently created innovative products that are true to the spirit of the DC Comics heroes and villains from which they are inspired. We look forward to seeing the results of the next wave of property collaborations.” Mattel won’t be just sending out toys for the kids. They recognize that there are plenty of adult fans as well. “We have a fantastic global partnership

Square Enix Partners with DC Comics to Explore Nier Backstory

Square Enix and DC Comics imprint Wildstorm are teaming up to release three comics explaining some parts of the Nier backstory before the game goes on sale April 27. The comics will reveal information about key game characters, start to answer some major questions about the plot, and get you acquainted with game basics before you can even open the box. They’ll be available in three places: the official Web site at http://www.NierGame.com, on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and on the PlayStation Store. Do you think this idea is really cool, or do you not really like how much information will be getting out before the game’s release?
