“Dead Island” trailer shows just how badly a vacation can go

Deep Silver announced that they will be publishing developer Techland’s oft-delayed Dead Island, wherein a usually-peaceful tropical island becomes the home to a ton of zombies who, because you are actually very delicious, would likely prefer it if you weren’t tanning yourself on the beach. (They like their meat rare.) The game combines first-person melee combat with a variety of makeshift weapons (think Dead Rising) and character development. There will also be a co-op mode (think Left 4 Dead) that can be experienced with up to four players. But that’s not what people are talking about. They’re talking about the trailer, which is more like a short film advertising the game than anything else – we’ve got no guarantees that the game will be like this at all. It could even be horrible, we’ve got no idea. But the announcement trailer is definitely something else. (Keep in mind that it’s

Mel B is your workout buddy in the latest “Get Fit with Mel B” trailer

Working out is always better with a buddy, right? And if it’s a famous buddy that happens to have a few workout tapes under her belt, that’s just extra convenient. Deep Silver’s Get Fit with Mel B is a PlayStation Move exclusive that uses both the Move controller and the PlayStation Eye to track your movements in real time in 3D space. It also happens to be a tiny recipe compendium, with over 120 healthy recipes that make sure you’re giving your all 24/7. Okay, she won’t watch you sleep (which would be creepy, anyway). But it’s as close as you’re going to get to a live-in personal trainer without spending a million bucks.

This August, solve a point-and-click mystery in Deep Silver’s “Lost Horizon”

This August, PC gamers who love a point-and-click mystery will have one to solve, thanks to to Deep Silver’s Lost Horizon. You follow former soldier (current smuggler) Fenton Paddock on a search for a missing military expedition in Tibet. In an “only-in-1936″ kind of way, he runs into a Nazi squad (I know) looking for occult weapons to take over the Western world. Fenton, being a dashingly good-looking, anti-Nazi British gentleman, has to stop them from this. And also from getting access to the glorious city of Shambala. (Because Lost Horizon secretly wants to be Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves. In 1936. On PC. With all clicking and no fast action sequences. Fenton does look a lot like Nathan Drake, right?) But hey, at least it’s affordable. A digital download of the game will run you $19.99.

From Deep Silver, with love; “Secret Files” series for Wii and DS

Deep Silver’s take on the classic puzzle mystery Secret Files: Tunguska will be launching on Wednesday, June 30 for both the Nintendo Wii and DS, retailing at $19.99 each. Back in 2007, Deep Silver announced plans to port the former PC games, citing that platforms like Nintendo’s Wii and DS “deserved them.” The unchanged story focuses on Nina Kalenkov as she tries to figure out what happened to her father, a prolific scientist who has suddenly disappeared. Her search leads her to Siberia, where you can point-and-click to your heart’s content in over 100 different locations traversing the region in order to find out more about the top-secret research Dr. Kalenkov was conducting. Players MacGyver their way through the game by using and combining clues found in each scene. The story still incorporates the atomic Tunguska Explosion of 1908 and also features over 10 hours of gameplay, a hint tool, playability with

Guest Article: Deep Silver games for 2009 in NYC

Deep Silver brought their impressive 2009 line up of games to New York City on August 5th, and I was lucky enough to be in attendance. The titles included were; Cursed Mountain for the Wii, Risen for the PC/360, Fritz Chess for the DS/PS3/Wii, and Mytran Wars for the PSP. The event was reasonably crowded, with Cursed Mountain and Risen drawing the most attention, and with very good reason. After muscling my way through the crowd of people in awe of Cursed Mountain’s creepy, yet remarkably engrossing environments I was able to get a first hand look at the game, and found myself thoroughly impressed by it. Cursed Mountain follows the story of Eric Simmons, our protagonist and top tier mountain climber, on his quest to find his brother, Frank. Eric’s journey takes him to Mount Chomolonzo in the Himalayas, where he encounters various ghosts and spirits inhabiting the mountain.
