Square Enix announces first DLC for ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’

This October, you’ll be exploring another conspiracy in Deus Ex: Human Revolution in the recently-announced DLC called “The Missing Link.” It’s coming to every platform the game is on — including OnLive. (Spoiler alert!) While Adam was investigating during the course of the game, he disappears for three days. (Aaaaand end spoilers.) Where did he go, and what did he discover? That’s The Missing Link. You’ll be fighting back against the group of Belltower agents that disabled Adam’s augmentations while also escaping from a freighter that’s going…well, somewhere. And you have no idea where. One of the best parts of this DLC is that you’ll be able to reassign Adam’s augmentations — good news for anyone who ever felt like they were “doing it wrong.” “We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to further develop Adam’s journey in the game with The Missing Link

When is Run ‘N’ Gun Really a Great Tactic?

I’ve had the discussion of “running and gunning it” come up a lot lately, ever since I started to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The first time it came up was when I was telling a friend how much I was looking forward to playing DXHR, because I like how it gives you options in how to play. I don’t have much patience, and I’m horrible at stealth, so I was pleased to learn that I won’t get a MISSION FAIL if I get caught (sure, I might die, but that’s not really what I’m referring to here). My friend brushed me off and said, “Well, if you run and gun it, you won’t last long.” I didn’t reply, because I was trying to pick out where I said “run and gun.” Now that the game is out, friends feel the need to keep telling me, “You know, you can’t

GameStop is removing OnLive vouchers from PC copies of ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’

Stop! If you’re planning to buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PC, you might want to avoid GameStop for retail copies. Based on an email sent from Field Manager Josh Ivanoff (you can see an edited version of it above), some stores have been ordered to remove vouchers for a free OnLive copy of the game. At the moment, Ivanoff hasn’t responded to calls from multiple outlets, but GameStop representative Beth Sharum has confirmed the practice, telling OnLive Spot that “Square Enix packed the competitor’s coupon with our Deus Ex: Human Revolution product without our prior knowledge and we did pull and discard these coupons.” Note that this isn’t a chain-wide practice, but such a policy even being enforced is really shady. GameStop does have their reasoning, though — as reported in March, GameStop has purchased both digital download service Impulse as well as Spawn Labs’ streaming technology. You know

‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ trailer is de-classified

This “Classified Information” trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution goes over…well, almost everything you’d want to know before you play. Play styles, information on the biological engineering going on in our esteemed main character and also a short look into the other characters’ dead-looking eyes. I figured the future would be depressing, but now I’m just worried. Follow

‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ comes to OnLive with two pre-order options

Streaming game provider OnLive has a special deal coming up for pre-orders of Deus Ex: Human Revolution — and for a change, there are a couple of options for you. First, you can pre-order the OnLive “standard edition,” which comes with a complete PlayPass for the new game as well as Deus Ex’s Game of the Year Edition. This option will run you $44.99. The second option is the “augmented edition.” For $53.99, you get the “standard edition,” along with a 44-minute making-of video, a comic and art book, a copy of the soundtrack and an animated storyboard. I’m not too sure which of these are just streamed, since the game’s online-only when you buy it, but it does at least sound like you’ll get the comic and art book in some physical form. Maybe they’ll just be JPEG downloads. Oh well, it’s still less than a console copy of
