The site is up to act as a destination for all pokemon fans to find the latest news and a handy place for the animated series, video games, and trading cards to all be together. There is an interactive pokedex, a card database, and even a “Pokemon Trainer Club” for all the trainer hopefuls out there!

On top of all the information and news, the minigames are proud to be both easy to pick up on, yet challenging enough to keep the player entertained for hours. The pokemon fun zone, where the games are hosted, is a great place for kids to play appropriate games and earn Trainer Tokens as rewards for playing. There’s even a trainer builder so you can make your own trainer avatar.

For the older scene, you can also look up dates and locations for both video game and trading card game tournaments. All in all, this site is a very useful lexicon of all things pokemon, and should be a bookmark on the computers of all pokefans.

Majesco is celebrating Hello Kitty’s 35th Anniversary with a brand new title for the Nintendo DS. Hello Kitty Party will feature Hello Kitty in a game that lets players dance, shop, cook, iron and more. Wait…iron?

“Hello Kitty has been a worldwide phenomenon for the past 35 years and we relished the opportunity to add the global icon to our portfolio,” said Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations for Majesco. “Hello Kitty Party is the perfect title to bring to market during the holiday gift-giving season and we believe fans of all ages will enjoy the unique experience.”

“Because of Majesco’s long-standing expertise in managing licensed products in a highly competitive hand-held games market, the partnering of Barnstorm with Majesco will give Hello Kitty Party the ideal high profile release in North America,” added Simon Jeffrey, Managing Director for Barnstorm Games.

In Hello Kitty Party, players will team up with SANRIO friends for mini-games. The title will launch on November 23 and you can find screenshots here.

Thursday night we attended the grand opening of the Three Apples exhibit at Royal/T in Culver City. Royal/T is generally a maid cafe with a shop and an art exhibit. They tend to change out their space often with different themes. The Three Apples exhibit celebrates all things Hello Kitty.

The Three Apples exhibit is free to the public and runs from October 23 through November 15. There are many parts to the exhibit. At the entrance is the apartment completely designed in Hello Kitty merchandise. Followed by the store which houses some of the cutest Hello Kitty merchandise I’ve ever seen. At the grand opening, TokiDoki showcased their latest Hello Kitty/Tokidoki goods. I loved their vinyl Hello Kitty. The grand opening also included guests like Paris Hilton, Dave Navarro, Tarina Tarantino, and Kimora Simmons recording for her reality show.

After a wall of plush Hello Kittys, there is a large art exhibit with some of the most amazing interpretations of our favorite kitty. Along another wall is a showcase of items only found in Japan and a historical look at Hello Kitty items. Between the areas were women dressed in Hello Kitty clothing, dancing and posing for pictures.

The exhibit is rather large and definitely will take some time to go through. The art is amazing and inspired. It’s great to see what affect Hello Kitty has had on people of all ages throughout the years. We had a great time and thank Sanrio and Royal/T for hosting such a great event! I’ll be going back on Saturday to get a better look (it was very crowded) and to see what I want to purchase. Below I have all the pictures we took from the event. Hello Kitty exhibit

We’ve almost seen Hello Kitty on everything. The red bow wearing kitty has become a style icon and a favorite at many here at GamingAngels. This year is her 35th Anniversary and just one of the celebrations is the “Three Apples” exhibition that will celebrate all things Hello Kitty and feature collaborations from many top Comic-con artists and exhibitors.

“Three Apples” will take place from October 23 to November 15 at Royal/T (www.royal-t.org) in Culver City, CA. We’ve covered Royal/T here at GA before. It’s the Japanese-inspired art space that also has a maid cafe.

For this event, there will be works of art, Hello Kitty shaped food and ability to purchase limited edition products made just for this event.

Supanova is always an event I look forward to, and this year was no different! With Anime, Games, Books, Sci-Fi, Cosplay, Celebrities… who wouldn’t, right?

When I walked into the Dome at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday 27th, I was greeted by the huge “inFAMOUS” display at the EB Games booth and the nice buzzing sound of stallholders setting up before the crowds were let in.

I had a wander around the event, enjoying the space to browse at stalls before the masses were set upon us. I found there was an area set up for online gaming as well as card gaming on one side of the Dome, with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Nationals being held here.

In the back of the Dome was the Madman Anime Theatre (above) where the Madman National Cosplay Championships and the Madman Cosplay Contest was held as well as screenings of various Anime shows being shown before and after.

There were lots of interesting stalls on display this year, from DVD stores and book stores to Gothic Lolita clothing and Gamer goods. One in particular was called “One Day In Paradise” which featured cute Lolita style clothes and accessories. The ladies were dressed in some of their wares, and were gracious enough to pose for a photo:

On the gaming side of things, there were at least 5 companies represented on the day: EA, All Interactive Entertainment, Sega, THQ and Ubisoft. EA were showing off “Fight Night Round 4″, while THQ were showing off “UFC 2009 Undisputed”, “Red Faction: Guerilla” and “Bionic Commando”. Ubisoft had “Final Fantasy Dissidia”, “TMNT: Smash Up!” and “Star Ocean”. Sega were showing off “Let’s Tap” and “Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics”, while All Interactive had “Fast Food Panic” and “Battle Fantasia” (and 2 others) on display.

Celebrities and Voice Actors were very popular on Saturday – so popular I couldn’t get within a metre of them just to say hi! As disappointed as I was to not be able to speak to them, I could see by the smiles on their faces (when I could see them) that they were enjoying themselves and the fans were just as happy too. Many of them held seminars on various topics, none which I was able to attend.

Comic Book Artists and Authors were prominent at Supanova, and the Borders book store stall played host to authors Marianne de Pierres, Andrew Warrilow and Jennifer Fallon. I was lucky enough to meet Jennifer Fallon and grabbed her autograph for our Yukino (who is a big fan of Jennifer’s). She was a very lovely, down to earth woman and I encourage you to grab a copy of her books if you get the chance.

The Cosplay competitions were very popular this year, with the Madman Anime Theatre packed to the max with spectators and participants alike. The host for the competition was John Robertson. I was lucky to be able to grab a spot on the side of the stage for the Madman National Cosplay Championships in which they had 6 competitors. All 6 were in the running to get a trip to Melbourne (to compete on behalf of Sydney to win a trip to Japan), a Madman voucher and an appearance on breakfast television show “Sunrise” – all of them performed a skit of some sort. The winner was a young woman named Christie Lee.

There was a small break between the end of the National Cosplay Championships and the Cosplay Contest, and I was able to move to a better spot to catch the 60 or so entries. John reminded everyone to be kind to the entrants (despite the quality or effort behind their entry) proving his point by showing us his Australian Idol audition (which was hilarious) and making a live recreation on stage. I’m glad that they did that because I’ve been disappointed by spectators being rude about entries in the past. They also had a few technical difficulties which gave John the opportunity to make amends for his Idol audition. He kept us occupied with something called the Caramel Pop Dance (correct me if I’m wrong!), and sung a nice little song about Cosplay.

Finally things were fixed and we were able to get on with seeing some more Cosplay! There were people dressed as Anime, Comic & Game characters, as well as some other sorts of characters, with some performing little skits or numbers. There were two girls who had dressed up as Elphaba and Glinda who acted out a song from the musical “Wicked”, but my personal absolute favourite was the group that dressed up as the girls from “SailorMoon”! They were all so lovely when I had met them in the foyer earlier in the day, posing for a photo with me. They were incredibly popular with the other show goers as well, and I think they would have spent alot of the day posing for people. (If you are one of these girls, please send me an email!)

All in all Sydney Supanova 2009 was a blast, and the people and the stalls were great! You can find all of these pictures here, as well as some other pictures that haven’t been featured in this article. Additionally, keep your eyes peeled for a video I hope to produce soon. Anyway, I can’t wait for next year – now, who should I go as?

Smurfs

Raja Gosnell has signed on to direct the upcoming Smurfs movie for Columbia Pictures and Sony Animation. The film will be a mix of live action and animation.

Gosnell past experience includes directing “Scooby-Doo”, “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Jordon Kerner is producing the film and has this to say about picking Gosnell, “With Raja coming aboard, we now have a brilliant director who has proven time and again that he has a deft touch in blending the worlds of physical comedy and honest emotion with both live action and photo-real animated characters. Our three-apple-high heroes are in good hands, and we feel absolutely positively Smurfy to be working with him.”

The Smurfs film will be released on December 17,2010.
