MapleStory: Robots in disguise?

Yup, it’s true! MapleStory got a robot class, but don’t tab out of here just yet! It’s not as easy as just creating a character with that class. First, you need to create a resistance character, then you have to complete all the required tutorial quests and reach level ten. Buuuuut, if you have created a character on resistance and done all of the above, but not made the first job prior to the patch, you are in luck. You’ll be able to select the Mech Class as well.  You’ll be mounted atop a state of the art ME-07 mech and be able to activate robot minions. Really…who doesn’t like robot minions? The mech class also have a a fast paced combat, rapid fire attacks, attacking and healing capabilities and the ability to navigate more efficiently through maps.  This is yet another class to add to the massive changes MapleStory has gone through. With the BigBand event , Wild Hunter, Battle Mage and Mech classes , MapleStory has more than 159,000 new players, more than 42 weddings occur per day and more than 116,000 pets purchased.

Let’s talk about Black Prophecy

Gamigo and Reakktor Media have been busy at work with Black Prophecy, their upcoming MMORPG set in space! In this video, you’ll be able to get a taste at how they do the voice over for the game, to which they have recorded a total of 5000 lines of dialogue. Impressive! Not only that, but you’ll be able to find out why your video game characters sound so soulless, as the voice actor gets drill to make the line more “Neutral” since the script will give it the drama need it. Riiiiiight…¬_¬  You’ll also see the final product of this particular recording season, which is really cool!

Pandora Saga gets new content for the box:

This MMORPG still in Open Beta, with the hopes of launching early this year.  Coming out within a day from Dragonia, The Shattered Continent presents players level 112 and up with dungeons, fighting arenas for control of the crystal cores and more.  Sign up for the beta, never a better time to get into an MMO than when there is new content.

What does a Blood Lord and Football have in common?

Doesn’t that sound like the set up to a joke?  But is not a joke because Vindictus is bringing us the most challenging raid boss to come to the game…so far.  Up to six mercenaries can join together to face him but he won’t be easy.  “IF” you are cunning, creative and a tad mad player, you’ll try to defeat him with footballs.  No, that is not a typo, you’ll down this boss with footballs [O_o].  You have to be at least level 41 to face this non-sparkling Blood lord, by the way.  Also on the cash shop you’ll find new hairstyle, face pains and body tattoos, as well as football themed content.   What better way to celebrate your football fever.  Let’s say football one more time! Foot….ah gotcha!

Yar matey! Pirates of the Burning Sea have achieved its three year milestone and to celebrate they have some surprises up their non-hooked sleeves! YARH!

• A special Anniversary mission – This mission involves a barrel race and a fancy soiree, complete with party games. Complete this mission and you’ll get a very handsome commemorative coat.
• Anniversary Pets – To celebrate this black tie occasion, Monkeys wearing top hats can be found in the Treasure Aisle, and a rare black cockatoo will complete your anniversary ensemble. Get ‘em while you can, because they’re available only for a limited time.
• A complete graphic overhaul of San Juan – Flying Lab Software’s artists have been busy giving the Spanish capital a brand new look!
• New characters — Community members Ubert le Danois, Jon Smith-Tank, Bennet, and Paul Kingtiger have been added to the game as NPCs in various locations so keep an eye out!
• New feathered friends – New pets are available in the Treasure Aisle: a Seagull, cranky and vaguely menacing, as seagulls always are, a Cockatiel, and a Raven!
• Captain’s Club members will notice a nice new perk — double Conquest rewards after map wins.

Champions Online finally free for all!

Nothing really much need to be said besides of make your character, enjoy the starting zone (do all quest and achievements there, you won’t be able to go back) and enjoy the game!

Yslandia: The portable MMORPG

Yslandia is an MMORPG that you can find at any iTunes store near you for only $0.99.  After 3 months of feedback they have adding new content to the game, more adventures, and social features. This portable game have:

• Over 300 quests available, combining combat, exploration and cooperation between players
• The opportunity to fight valiantly for your clan through PvP and RvR battles.
• Regular events offered by the Moving Player team and the game masters (GM).
• The bold exploration of enchanting yet hostile territories

EVE online goes PVE:

Sansha’s Natio PVE invasions are now permeating several systems in the EVE universe and is up to you to enjoy the new PVE system in the heavily PVP game.

If you are not into that kind of stuff, you can always go and play with the character creator.  Recently it peaked the current record with 63,170 pilots created.

It’s cool to see books coming out for another MMO on the market besides World of Warcraft. I’m a firm believer that these can enhance the gameplay for those who love the games for their stories. It will be interesting to check out this book and to see where it leads to in the future!

The trailer for Dominon is pretty rad. I’m all for epic space battles and this does not disappoint! I’m sure that many fans, and newcomers will enjoy the trailer and new expansion. Check out the full trailer below!

EVE: The Burning Life

Tor books has announced that they will be publishing a new novel based in the EVE Online universe. EVE: The Burning Life was written by Hjalti Daníelsson, who is the main creative writer from CCP Games and who has worked on the story of New Eden.

The novel is set to be a hybrid of space opera and military science fiction. It promises to compliment the EVE backstory by providing fans a personal narrative through new realms in the EVE universe. “Though the player-driven drama unfolding daily in EVE Online is the essence of our virtual world, CCP firmly believes that EVE can transcend the boundaries of a single medium to offer new ways of experiencing its richness” said Thor Gunnarsson, VP of Business Development at CCP. “We are thrilled to collaborate with the incredibly talented team at Tor Books to bring a taste of the EVE universe to sci-fi readers around the world.”

“EVE is a phenomenal SF offering,” said Eric Raab, Tor Editor. “The game is beyond awe-inspiring, and its intricacies deserve stories. Hjalti’s storytelling skills shine in-game and in his short fiction. We at Tor are truly excited for his first foray into the novel form.”

EVE: The Burning Life is set to be released in November 2009.
