Featured Facebook Game of the Week – Where in the World is…

Carmen Sandiego? (I can hear Rockapella singing it now!) This is a game that I used to play on the computer when I worked in after school care with school age kids and watched on TV even before that. So when I saw it as a Facebook game, I felt that childlike excitement and couldn’t wait to get my mouse on it. The sentiment is the same, players take an active role as detectives hunting Carmen’s henchmen (and henchwomen) all over the world, testing and expanding geographical and cultural knowledge while putting deductive reasoning and perfect timing to the test putting clues together to get a warrant before actually finding the bad guy. Starting at the ACME headquarters in San Fransisco, players talk to witnesses in order to get information on either the identity of the henchperson or where they are headed next, get a warrant for the right one,

Featured Facebook Game of the Week

I got word of a new sort of match 3 game that is sort of a mix of Pogo.com’s Poppit and PopCap’s Blitz series with added “strategy elements” to reel in and challenge players. It’s called Poseidon’s Realm. I have just started playing it and I am intrigued. The basic mechanism of the game is to pop bubbles and form lines of three or more (odd shapes or groups don’t count unless it’s a square) scoring as many points as possible in one minute. There are gems exchangeable for power ups, experience points, and novel abilities that add levels of complexity to the game. For instance, as bubbles pop, the ones below them float up to fill in the gaps. Well, the grid is on a sort of wheel, so players have the ability to turn the game 1/4 turn in either direction in order to change the flow of

    Review: Wheel of Fortune (Facebook)

Genre: Word/Puzzle social Developer: GSN When I saw that a friend of mine started playing Wheel of Fortune on Facebook, I nearly jumped off of my couch with excitement, because I have always loved watching that game on TV and fancied myself a pretty good couch Wheel of Fortune player. So, the thought of being able to compete in the game with my friends got me clicking pretty quickly. When I got to the game itself, I noticed it was in beta, which took down my expectations a little, but I was still super excited to play. The sound effects were pretty authentic, especially the little chime to start each puzzle, and even down to the wheel spinning, which, when coupled with the true to game graphics, really can get a fan in the mood to solve some puzzles. Each game gets a “normal” puzzle round and a bonus round.
